- jeanpcaller said calling from "Window Services" about my computer problem. I had received a call before similar to this. Since I have a Mac and don't have problems and live with an IT guy , plus know this scam, I yelled at him and hung up.
Indian type accent. - Debbie| 1 replyI received a call from this telephone number today, they said they were calling from windows. I asked if they were talking about the software company or about replacement windows. the Indian gentleman told me he was calling from windows and asked me why I had not been doing security updates on my computer. After speaking to him for a few moments and telling him what he was doing is a scam he hung up on me. This is not the first time I have received a call from this number but this is the first time I answered it.

- Jinjust got a call from it today. ignored it. not voicemail.
- MarkSecond call from this guy. Same as above, an Indian guy stating he worked for "Windows Services" and his company asked him to fix my computer. Told him he was full of S**T and he hung up on me.
- Alana ForsythJust called. Sent it to voicemail because it was not a number I expect calls from. The policy works: Just press Reject and off you go.
- Caller: Who knows?
- t2newarkJust received an auto call that my Windows licence has expired on my cell phone and not on my business line. This odd because I never use my cell phone to register software and Windows 10 upgrade is free.
- MaryCalls daily, left one automated voicemail with a return number (866-501-0340). When I called back he told me my computer had a virus and the only way to reactivate my Windows was to follow his instructions. Needless to say, I said no thank you.
- JenniferI just received a call from this number claiming to be from Windows and said that there was something wrong with the licensing from windows on my computer. I felt this was not right so I hung up on him. He also had an Indian accent.
- Caller: Windows

- AL MUNDYI have gotten 3 to 5 calls a week all kind of stuff from loans to saving me interest rates, return calls and told them to stop text and told them to stop
- DianaI just received a call from this number, also a male with a pronounced Indian accent. He claimed to be calling from Windows and said that my computer was sending information about a virus. I told him I have an IT professional and that I would direct her to deal with it. He claimed that nobody else could fix it. When I told him I wouldn't deal with him, he hung up.
- bobCalled and told me to turn on my computer that he was from"windows service" Indian/Pakistan accent. Hung up
- RoseThey said they they worked for Microsoft. My husband allowed them to access our computer to fix it and now I'm concerned because they have my IP address and I'm not sure what they downloaded from our computer. They are repeatedly calling for payment which I did not give yet because I looked up this number and realized we were being scammed. Does anyone have any ideas of how to handle this situation?
- APJust got a call from this number now, he claimed he was calling from Microsoft because my computer was sending messages that it was infected with viruses. It almost sounded legit at first because the battery on my laptop just drained all the way and it was beeping at me when I tried to turn it on after plugging it in. I guess it needs to charge a little first? Anyway I told him I have 3 computers which one was he calling about, he said "the one running Windows 10," I said I have 3 running 10, he said "the one running 8..." Anyway I told him it sounded like a scam and I didn't believe him. He didn't hang up but asked to call me back later. Going to block his number now. If he calls again from a different number I'll extract info from him and then possibly harass him somewhat.

- Skeptical in MA| 1 replyJust got a call from this number on one of our work phones here at my place of employment. Definitely Pakistani or Indian accent. He started off telling me that he is from Windows and that there is a virus on the computer. It was obvious to me that this was a scam, but I played along to try to see what kind of information I could get out of him. He had me select the manage option under Computer in that start menu. Then event viewer > custom views > administrative events. He said that this list of warnings and errors was signs of a virus. In fact, this is not necessarily true. These are most likely just common messages for most people that aren't direct indicators of a virus. He is just leading you on with items that have the 'look' of being harmful or dangerous. He then asks you to open the 'Run' function through the start menu and to type in the address "www.lm9.us". At this point I wasn't about to start running actual commands for this guy. I told him it didn't work, and he was persistent enough after three times of this to tell me to run "www.alpemix.com". I said this also didn't work. He told me to check with my internet service provider to see that my internet was connected, and that he'd call back in one hour.
I am currently waiting for him to call back. In the meantime, I checked out the two web addresses that he had asked me to visit: www.lm9.us and www.alpemix.com. The lm9.us site is a fake windows/mac support website. They offer protection packages, and it also mentions “remote support”. The alpemix.com site appears to be legitimate software which offers remote peer-to-peer connections of two computers. You have to download the software and then enter the other persons information and code, at which point it would likely give him access and/or control of your computer.
He is either looking to sell you a bogus operating system protection package, trying to get remote connection to your computer (at which point, you can only assume the worst, i.e. data theft, malware, actual viruses), or maybe both of these things. Either way, steer clear. I’m hoping he calls back and maybe gives me his alpemix connection information. At least that might be an avenue for the FBI of Alpemix to do a little something to try and stop this guy/organization. I’ve tried calling back only to get busy signals and not available messages.
I will update if anything else unfolds. Either way I plan to report this to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center, as well as Alpemix directly. - John SA definite scam. They will lock your computer for a ransom scam. Tell you to open LM9.us and give them remote access and you are doomed.
- Caller: Windows support
- William replies to Skeptical in MAthe " lm (dot) us " aboutus webpage shows a "Microsoft Certified Professional Systems Engineer" logo.
Which means nothing when a scammer uses it.
