I recieved a phone call from these individual portraying themselves as
Atorneys stating that i owed 1800 dollars for a payday loan taking out back in 2008,They were very rude and stated that i wrote a bad check and that it was considered a theft and fraud,I stated that i have never written a check out for a payday loan,then it went from fraud to a civil matter they said Believe they had me scared
They told me if i gave them my checking account number they can hold off on the paper work to have me arrested something didn't seem right.
They wanted the Money upfront and would make no deals i would not give info it got them frustrated they started telling me things like
we can ruin your life so you need to pay,.
then they put me on the phone with someone else and the women stated that
she can help me out if i pay the full balance with a credit card they called it a transfer and then they would drop the case.
i stated that i wont do that!
the first time they called it stated unknown caller
then someone called back and from a buffalo Ny #

I just got the same call today...def. a scam!!! dont fall for it...Ill be changing my number soon:)

We received a call from these people too!!!!  They were very threating and upset many family members!!!  These people need to be STOPPED!!

This person called my job and my personal cell phone today. He stated his name was Mr. Shapiro and said that I owed nearly three thousand dollars for checks that I written across the state lines. He threatened to have me arrested and that he would report this in the morning to the county in which I live. He said that I have to make a payment of at least one thousand dollars today. Otherwise in the morning would be too late. He kept repeating my social security # (which was uncomfortable) and he said that he would have me served at work. It went from he had to have it all on a credit card today or by the end of the month. Me knowing that this was not correct asked for information on who the checks were written to and for what amount. He could not answer this information and refused to let me speak with anyone for more information on this. He said that he was with a Law Firm and he was the only one that could help me. I will be reporting this to the Fair Debt Collection Act and BBA. Ridiculous!

Mr. Shapiro called my job and told one of my coworkers that I need to call them soon. He was trying to get my phone number from her telling her that I have a court case that is going to send me to jail. When I called him and repeated the case number he repeated someone elses social security # by accident. Then said her name. He not only told me to shut up when I started questioning at him but he got very defensive I asked for more info about the company. Clearly this man is a fake who knows my info and I dont feel safe that he knows. I havent written any checks since 2007 how can I have had a bad check?

Got a message from Dave Shapiro stating he was from the Legal and Fraud Division of Erie County. I called this number back and they stated "Morgan Stone and Associates" when they answered, I then asked for their legal and fraud division and was left on hold. I called back and then they answered the phone w/ a simple hello and could not explain to me exactly what their company did. I hu and did research and discovered this site when I googled the number.

What you all are describing are violations are not taken lightly in the state of NY.  In fact, Gov. Cuomo just shut down an agency here in Buffalo for these exact reasons.  Do yourselves a huge favor and go to the website www.nydebthelp.com  This was on the podium as he spoke about it today.  I can't tell how I know but this company is frauding you guys.  I am not saying you don't have a legitamate debt but the way they are going about collecting it is fraud.  What I mean is, you probably only owe about $800 but they are trying to get you for $1000's telling you its legal fees and interest.  PLEASE file your complaints - better yet try to get them on tape. Copy and save your voicemail messages if they mention anything other than who they are and the phone number.  They cannot 3rd party disclose to anyone that you have a debt.  Even on a answering machine at your home.  Especially to a relative and in some states even your spouse.  To heck with it - so some of you don't question my motives here, their physical address is 1211 Hertel Ave. Buffalo, NY 14216 (the old avenue books).  Google it! I have been in the building, have heard the calls, and have seen the true debt amounts on the screens.

These people just called my job & told me i owed 3000.00 to my bank for bounced checks. I do NOT write checks and havent for 10 years. The girl i spoke to was RUDE and very mouthy on the phone..telling me that if i did not give her the # to a close family memeber with a line of credit, i would be served with papers and arrested and sent to jail..SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THESE IDIOTS!!!!

I just got a call from these people.  A Mr. Selino (sp?) left a message on my answering machine asking for my ex husband. I called them back to give them his information and the "man" that I talked to started asking me how long I'd been divorced, etc. I eventually told him that I had been divorced for 4 years and he then began to tell me that he used me as a cosigner on a loan and wrote 4,000 in bad checks to pay it back and that I could be responsible. The worst part of it is that my ex was extremly abusive durring our marriage and I had no doubt in my mind that he would do this to me. I am currently suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and this call sent me straight into a panick attack. The only difference between my story and what has been previously reported about this "company" is that the man I talked to was very nice.  When I was crying on the phone he was actually consoling me. This was a truly disturbing experience.

These ppl called my mom and told them that she had committed fraud and was facing fraud charges and incarceration. My mom is disabled and was so confused as to what was going on. They told her that she had written a bad check and owed over $8000 in credit card debt. They were rude and hateful. They wanted to do a transfer as well via credit card from a family member or friend that could secure the debt. They called me her daughter and wanted all of my credit card info and stated that they were an attorney, and that they were saving her and me the troubles of court cost and an attorney for my mom. They told me she would be incarcerated within 48 hrs if I did not pay the debt. They also told me that they went in a database that they have (attorneys only) and ran me through that database and determined that I had the funds to pay half of the debt $4000 for my mom and that they would settle for that amount. They were irate and yelling at me and my mom. First of all I did none of this which infuriated that so called attorney, I told her that even though it was my mom she should not be calling and telling ppl her business or trying to make someone else feel responsible for her bills or debts. When I asked for proof of the debt they would not give it to me or tell me or my mom where the check or credit cards were obtained from (bank, business, type of card visa, mc, american express). Watch out for these ppl. My mom spoke to a real attorney and he informed her that these ppl were full of crap!

wow.... ok, so here is what i have been thru with these people....
       about a month ago my sister called me and told me some guy had left a message on her answering machine saying they were attorneys and they had a judgement against my husband for an unpaid debt. they claimed he still owed a debt we had paid off over a year before and were threatening tho strip him of his honorable discharge from the army if we didnt pay them right then. he also called my mom and my brother in law before i finally got fed up and called them back. when i first called, they couldnt locate the account, then when they finally did it was ubder the exact same account number the first debt was under. they claimed we owed more than three times the original amount and with attorneys fees it came to over five grand. i told the guy we had already taken care of this and we had proof. he said it didnt matter; the people we payed the first time had no right to offer us a settlement and we still had to pay. i asked for a fax number so i could send them a copy of our receipts but he wouldnt give me one. he did, however, give me the street address: 1211 hertel ave. buffalo, ny. i called the people we had paid the first time and they told me that what morgan stone and associates was trying to do was illegal and fraudulent and to call the ny state attorney general. i called them back, asked for proof of the debt (which they said they didnt have to give me) and when they refused, i told them i was going to report them to the a.g.. as soon as i said that, the man said i was paid in full and if i called again they would press charges. then he hung up on me.
  two and a half weeks later, they started calling my mom again. this time i spoke with a woman named maureen. she told me the same thing mr. o'reilly and mr, torres said the first time.... we had to pay regardless of what we had paid before. she had all of our bank information.... it was really scary. she went on and on about how obama had signed some bill into action that allowed them to do what they were doing and they were going to ruin our lives if we didnt pay. once again, i asked for written proof of the debt. she took my fax number but i never saw a single thing from them. the next morning i filed complaints with the attorney general and the ftc and called the buffalo pd and the local news station. then i wrote a demand to cease contact and called them up asking for the proper address to send it. this time maureen tried to give me a p.o. box.... when i told her that was unacceptable she flew off the handle and called me a lazy housewife that got what i deserved by not paying my bills. then she told me she had done all this footwork for me and had contacts the other attorneys to verify that we had, in fact, payed the debt and she was sending all the receipts to me in the mail. i asked for the name and number of the person she had talked to at the other firm and she refused to give me the info. i asked for the address she was sending the receipts to and she wouldnt tell me that either. then she told me i was harrassing her and if i called again she would "reverse the charges" whatever that means. i have dug around and have talked to another attorney who has a firm under the same name in louisiana who said they have a couple of federal lawsuits against them.... their website claims they are bbb members, but they arent. look out, guys, just because they left you alone the first time doesnt mean they will stay gone. keep reporting them. keep writing.

The person you are getting calls from is really a woman named Stephanie Lowinger. She has been at every collection agency, has a criminal record and will rob you blind.

These People are great. They called my uncle and told them they were with the marines. Identefied themsels as Sargent Thomas. And left a case number starting with "UCMJ" which stands for Uniform Code of Military Justice. I don't know what they are thinking but 1. You don't pretend to be Uncle Sam 2. You don't pretend to be the Marines 3. I can't wait to throw these guys to the devil dogs at Marine Corpse Legal.

Also, When they called my Uncle (pretending to be from the Marine Corpse ) they asked him IF I'M STILL IN THE MARINES! Ha Ha Ha

This woman is a scam artist.She goes by the name Maureen Cook..A legal "mediator".or council.Her real name is Stephanie Lowinger.
The paper they buy is the original amount of the loan..The "interest" they claim you owe is a made up number varies from person to person.
The people that work for her are not even legally her employess she pays them as independent contractors and they lie about their identities as well. Posing as process servers..(Danny D'Angelo)...and officer Ramirez, calling from a blocked number.
