Caller called, identifying himself as Jonathon Braxton, and said I was a point of contact for a Benny something-or-other, in a pre-litigation case relating to something called "Stone Commons".

Same story as in the previous post. Man called, identifying himself as Jonathon Braxton, and said I was a point of contact for my former brother in law, in a pre-litigation case. I told him that I am no longer part of that family. I hope this does not happen again since I don't need other people's debt collector calls.

Its a scam Jonathan Broxten is a baseball player. Not only every complaint I've read it has a differnent company name I was told Costello and Cunnings... yes very cunning.  I paid some of the money scared to go to jail and all but I stopped and nothing happened no jail no court... I just lost my money and Im on disibilty so I have very little as it is.  They may be connected with United Litigation which is definitly a scam. Tell them you want paperwork sent to you or your laywer or that you are in the middle of bankruptcy... they won't send any legal documents. DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY.

Caller claims to be a Jonathan Broxton - a fictitious name (probably borrowed from the baseball player - he's got a sense of humor!) An additional false claim that all should be wary of he is no lawyer. He is calling from a bottom-feeding debt collector that purchases old debt nearing its statute of limitations - thus the acts of desperation. In my case, he went as far as calling my sister-in-law's mother, who, I have absolutely no communication with, lives out of state and haven't seen since my brother's wedding years ago. I do believe that he dug that far and dirty just to show me how many degrees of separation he can embarrass me in and cause me some level of fear, so that I would call him back.

Everyone, heed my advice, DO NOT SPEAK TO HIM. Every time you indulge him in conversation, you extend the statute of limitations and he will continue to contact you. That is his goal, to get you to talk to him and ultimately get you to give him money.

In addition to the above, always remember that there are legitimate ways of collecting a debt. If they can get your mom's best friend's hairdresser to relay a message to you, then certainly they can send you a letter and tell you all about what they are trying to collect on. The reason they opt to call you repeatedly is because opening the line of communication with them just extends the statute of limitations for them to continue harassing you via phone until you give them money.

Just ignore 'em.
