Called me and claimed I owed $1200 for a payday loan of $400. legal action was pending. Could not and did not follow Fair Credit Act and I notified them to stop calling me at work Organization named Patrick Conner & Associates. Would not verify any of my questions for proof. I did not take out a loan with them nor have I ever heard of them.

A woman who says she is Sophia Martin called saying she represents Patrick Connor & Assoc., leaving a message for someone who does not live at my address, with a case number to refer to if I called back. She did not say what the case was about, but I assume it's a debt collector. I have never heard of these people and don't owe anyone money.

Me too today Sept. 5, 2013 from Annemarie. I called back to say she has the wrong person and I don't appreciate this call and don't call again. She said their investagators gave this number. Isaid your investagators are wrong and not to good. She then said I'll call you tomorrow and hung up on me. I called back and it took awhile for someone to answer. It sounded like the same person disguising her voice. I said Ididn't apply appreciate  the hang up especially since you called the wrong person. I've never been in trouble in my whole life and you will not call me again or I will turn you in.  he person just said okay.

On October 14, 2013 i received a call from Annemarie from Patrick Conner& Associates on my work number. I have been trying to fix my credit and i know that i have some collections out there from poor choices i  made about 2 years ago. Anyways, i asked her who the orginal debt was with and she told me it was from Pay Day One, i know that i had taken a loan from them but i thought i had already paid it. I asked for payment arrangements and time to see if i could get money together. I went through my files and did confirm that although it is not paid off, it is being handled by a legit collections agency. I called the agency that i am currently paying and they said not to call her back or pay anything and that they would call. I let her know what they said and she asked if i could hold. the call was dropped, i called back right away and left her a vm that she could contact me on my cell.

i received another call from the same " agency" they asked me to forward my payment arrangements to them. when i told them i would not Ahmir i believe is her name basically tried to shame me into sending it, stating that she has been collecting for 28 years and she is glad there are people like me who don't pay their bills so that she has a job, I have researched on my credit report/pulls and i could not find anywhere the company she said held the original debt, last time they told me it was Pay Day one, this time It was Bahama Marketing group. They have ALL of my contact numbers/emails but will only call me at work. Oh also after she tried to shame me, and i told her i did not believe that her company owned the debt she hung up on me, i called right back and of course she answered i asked if she had hung up on me and she said yes, and hung up again. Awesome job collecting when they can't even stay on the phone when you push back just a little.

    Not Mr. Turner
This number called repeatedly looking for a Mr. Turner. As I am not I told "Amera" she had the wrong number. The women proceeded to harass me about finding "mr. Turner."  She claims to be part of a law firm, but every time I called I got a different name. When I asked to speak with her boss she told me I could call back. The first time I called she was very aggressive when I hung up she called back irate. Telling me she got payed to "play games." After reading everything above it sure seems like she does.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

If they have all your information including your SS number, then you must put a fraud alert on your credit reports throught the credit bureaus, and should also visit the IRS.gov site that tells you what to do.

Threatening to send me to jail and garnish any accounts I may have. I am not working or receiving any income and that doesn't matter to them. A lady named Lisa tried to get me to work for a network marketing company from home and gave me the number to call as well as telling me that I need to purchase a prepaid debit card to pay them $50 a month that I cannot afford since I Have No Income.

Total scam.  Ignore them.  Block their calls.  Being in ordinary civil debt is not a crime and you cannot be arrested for it.  Only a judge can order a garnishment and that is only after a court hearing from a court in your local area.  These people are located in New YOrk state.   They are basically trying to scare you.

DO NOT PAY THEM ANYTHING AND DO NOT AGREE TO ANYTHING.  Do not give them any information.

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  DIME  until the debt is validated.

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

    If they are bothering you,

    Report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection  (Threatening criminal prosecution to collect a civil debt is a clear violation of the federal Fair Debt Collection Act)

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money,  tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them .

Report a phone call from 716-514-4655:

The company that called you.
