This number is used by Phillips & Burns, debt collectors from Buffalo, NY.  They pose as attorneys and hope people will misread "Dir Asst NY" as "Dist Atty NY".  There's a lot on them at Bud Hibbs' website.  They're apparently bottom-feeders, the worst of the worst, with comments on the site indicating they're abusive and unethical, and that they should be ignored.

Received a call from this number today (at work) claiming he was an attorney and there was a lawsuit against me.  It turned out he was looking for a previous employee, and hung up on me when he realized I wasn't the person he was looking for.  I thought this was very unprofessional.

is this just a collection agency or a real law firm?

This number called my parents house.  Told my mother that I was involved in a lawsuit and there is a court date scheduled for me.  He told her that it was urgent that she get a hold of me right away and have me contact him.  Thankfully I checked this site before calling.

Threatened but I would not tell them anything.  They said they were collecting for a card company I never heard of.

Called my home number.  When I answered they asked to speak to me (but could hardly pronounce my name) and I said "May I ask who is calling?"  And instead of answering me he is repeated what I was saying "may I ask who is calling".  I said "excuse me" and he said again "may i ask who is calling?"  At this point I was a bit frustrated.  I said "What is this regarding"..."a legal matter" is all he said, and I hung up.  He called right back, but did not leave a message on the answering machine.

Be advised that FCR employee Dave Miller aka Dave Matthews is processing payments on credit cards by pulling consumer credit reports. This is illegal; it is a crime, monitor your credit cards if you have any dealings with FCR. They are also collecting on accounts from Phillips & Burns of Buffalo, NY and Hoffman, Weinberg and O’Brien, two other sleazy criminal debt collectors. My wife received the same harrassing calls from Hoffman, Weinberg and O'Brien. Sad to say they got to us and we set up payments and they have been debting our account for about seven months. Are there any help for us?

216-273-9990 Hoffman, Weinberg and O'Brien. Somehow got my daughters cell number was asking where she lived and where I lived. Said they have a civil suit against me. Had her really upset. Found their names several times over on a website for reporting unscrupulous businesses and debt collectors.
