- Jadea007These people are constantly calling claiming they are from the Department of Fraud Investigations. They usually call from a 777-988 number leaving this number 718-569-1632 as a call back number. They will claim they have a case number and that you owe xx amount of dollars for a Pay Day Loan. I've since traced this number to a telemarketing comany in Staten Island, Global Communications or Teleport Communcations.
- Caller: Peter Jung / Mr. Agee
- LREI got the same call but it came from 718-569-1634. A guy also said he was from some Fraud Investigations division and was bringing charges against me for a pay day loan. This is totally bogus. Said they tried to contact me by mail and email but that is a lie. Told him go ahead with the charges and I would see him in court. He hung up on me.
- Caller: Fraud Investigations
- Diane KI have also received a call from Eddie Cooper from the Department of Fraud Investigations. Same thing as Lady S87. I don't know what number they were calling from as I have several different phone numbers that I didn't recognize. However, he left the number 718-569-1632 for me to call back about a case with my name on it and that it was very "time sensitive".

- NANCYI RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER. THE MANS NAME IS PETER GILLIAN AND HE IS FROM THE FRAUD INEVSTIGATION UNIT. HE STATED THAT I OWED 1000 DOLLARS IN ON LINE LOANS. I TOLD HIM THAT WAS NOT CORRECT, THAT I HAD ALSO CALLED THE FRAUD DEPARTMENT AND THEY DO NOT KNOW ANYONE WITH THAT NUMBER. NEEDLESS TO SAY, HE CONTINUES TO CALL. THIS IS ANNOYING.

- DaFoxPlease see this forum post on these fake pay-day loan scammers:

I will turn them in if they make one more call to my job.....
- HannieThese guys are a joke. They started rambling off my bank info, saying I had a payday loan for $300, from a month ago and have yet to pay it back (never taken am loan in my life). So after I found this thread I called him back and told him it was bs. He tried to tell me that I would have to come to NY for court (over $300 loan?) or I'll be criminalized. Then he gave me their street address... And it came up As NY supreme court. So I told him to never call again since I owe nothing, and he said he would make sure it doesn't go to trial..hmmm. A
Anytime federal court goes after someone for a $300 loan they didn't take then it's a scam. - HannieAnd I also called the dept of justice fraud dept. They said the dept of fraud doesn't exist and to contact your local police or FBI units
- A. LeannaI have been recieving telephone calls on a daily basis for more than a week now from a man who identified himself as D. Cooper, a senior attorney with a firm in New York. This man had my information such as s.s. number, home address, telephone, place of employment, family size, as well as the name of my bank and account number. He stated that a case had been placed against me for unpaid cash advance loan and needed to be taken care of or he would download a court case tomarrow. He would not give me proof of who he was or a name and number of the person who had filed a claim against me. He also became very rude to me when I asked for this proof. This man gave me an address in new york which i did not have a chance to write down, and a contact number of 718-569-1632 to reach him. He asked me to send my bank account information to him to verify that this account had been taken care of. NOT A CHANCE. I know some people may be scared enough to fall for these types of scams....PLEASE, someone needs to do something about this. And how do I protect my personal information...this guy had it all!

- kylene89I also have received these types of phone calls, also from different numbers. They claimed to also be with Fraud Investigation and that "time is important". That I also owed a payday loan and if I didnt pay it within a week that I would have a court date and needed to consult an attorney. He wanted me to write on a piece of paper and I quote "I and state your name, did not mean to commit the act of fraud and I will pay the amount of $300 on (date) and fax it to some weird number like the ones they were calling from. Now mind you, I have never even been pulled over for a speeding ticket and that is the truth!! Knock on wood!! And these people are accussing me of fraud,! I hung up on him because that made me think it was a little fishy. The thing about it is that I did have a pay day loan but it was one payment away from being paid off and it was set up to come directly out of my bank acct. So I knew that something wasnt right about this! I called them back and one number wouldnt even ring at all and the other was an Indian male on an answering machine that I couldnt understand and the voicemail was full and couldnt receive messages, imagine that!! The gentlemen I spoke with claimed their names were John Walter and Henry something, like I said, I couldnt understand half of what they said. So if you are receiving these phone call, ignore them, dont give them ANY information and I would even change your number!!! Thanks for listening!!

- LisaI got a call from a man named Henry from the Dept of Fraud. What a scam. Told him I was in law school and that I would check all this out, of which I will be inthe fall. He said to wait for paperwork to prove that I paid back a payday loan. This is so dumb. Don't worry people. Just say they have the wrong number. Keep answering. Answer in Spanish. HAHAHA. I am so thankful for the internet.
