Microsoft Office called saying there was a security issue with my computer requesting me to go into my Run command and type something in.

They've called over 6 times today, and kept insisting that if I don't do it, they will lock my computer.  I told "Fred" I would call him back to make sure my security was protected.  Called Microsoft directly and advised of the situation, and they confirmed that it was not them contacting me.

My (elderly) parents received a call (went to voice mail) from 718-717-2808 from someone claiming that the IRS was going to sue them and that they need to call the number back. I told them to ignore it. Has any one else seen IRS scams related to this particular number?

There is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

USA tax payers should read this:
    http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/Phone-Scams-C ... 5-Filing-Season

Canadian tax payers should read this:
    http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/nwsrm/lrts/2013/l131210-eng.html

    Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
