Call from Carl, Liz Keller's assistant from a company called Divergent. He would not tell me what the call was regarding and wanted to speak with our CFO. He would not give me his email address. When I told him our CFO was not available, he said he would call back later.

Call from Michael Taylor from Liz Keller's office at Divergent. Only this time the phone number was a New Castle, Delaware number 302-356-2801. I aske him to place us on their do not call list.

I looked up the company "Divergent" and all I could find was a novel that was turned into a movie.

Rings into voice mail, but NEVER leaves v-mail.  

Possible SOCIAL ENGINEERING recon attack, from descriptions of conversations reported below.

Scout/attacker calls publicly listed phone number, OR a number found on a business card. Attacker wants cold call TRANSFERRED INTERNALLY, within the target organization's phone system, to "someone higher up." These calls ramp up after attending trade shows/conventions.  

There needs to be a specific "Call Type" for Social Engineering Attempt.  

Call came in through our call center operators so they are using the company's main phone number.  I did not recognize the area code or number so I let the call go to voice mail.  No message... All employees all have direct lines so the caller does not know exactly who they are calling.  In the past these have been from an out bound call center trying to make a cold call connection for a sales associate of a third party company.  It is bassically a fishing expedition trying to get a name and number of an individual in a targeted department within the company.  If you talk to the sales associate and are not responsible for what they are selling they pressure you to give them another name and number.  I don't give up names because what goes around comes around and I don't need anymore of these calls.

Got a call this morning when I was on another line. No message. But I've gotten in the past week multiple calls from different numbers where they got my first name right and then gave the wrong last name. I've started asking "Who is calling and what is this in regards to?" and get a vague reply. Numbers I've gotten these strange calls from in the last week include:

Called me at work by name, a "Eunice" from the "offices of James McDonald", who is a real attorney and judge in Gunnison, Colorado, but is not one of the areas that this number is tied to.

This number 719-219-7193 called me at work and did not leave a message.  This is within minutes of another suspicious number calling and not leaving a message.  Seems to be a trend.

719-219-7193 is just a nuisance call among others randomly calling businesses (Examples are 312 641 1338, 214 635 4851; 609 858 6395; 678 638 7351; 650 423 0928) wherein the caller states that he/she is calling from whatever company of the day it might be on behalf of some phantom executive.  However, they will not leave a phone number when asked or will not give a reason or purpose for their call and try to insist that they be put through to whoever the target manager/executive may be.  Sometimes these callers can barely speak English or are just plain rude, probably frustrated by the lack of success on their part to get through to people.

-Calls our company on a regular basis since the beginning of the year. Even though my company has repeatedly asked them to request to remove ALL our number(s) from their entire data base.
-Callers ask for multiple people (Execs - Non Mgr Personnel) from multiple departments.
-Every caller, claims to be Mr. Lance Menuey's "Personal assistant." or simply "assistant." I'm guessing this to explain why....
            -When questioned what the call is pertaining, they are unable to provide any information as what the call is pertaining. Have only been asked to get in touch with the party and then they will transfer the call to Mr. Menuey.

Got the same. Just before this number called I got one from 4697574394. Here's hoping I don't get calls from all the others today as well!

Have had 2 calls from this number today each time there is silence and then someone pushing 3 buttons and then it hangs up, very annoying!

469-757-8869  Asks for our business owner by name, says name is Travis, with Aaron Miller, CITA??  Put on hold & hangs up before the call can be transferred.  (caller had strong Asian accent)
