Mesage left on voicemail by some woman talking so fast it was difficult to understand her (probably a recording). I was able to determine that her last name was Hernandez and she was calling to collect a debt. She didn't say who owed the debt, or who she was trying to contact. She left a return contact number and a case number. By federal law, she now has 5 days after initial contact to provide me, by mail, with all pertinent information, including who owes the debt, the amount of the debt, who the debt is owed to, the name and contact information of the person, company, agency or business attempting to collect the debt, and why they are authorized to collect it. However, I'm not expecting anything in the mail. I know I don't owe it, and I've had the same phone number since 1986, so it's not likely they're looking for the previous owner of the phone number. This is likely a scare scam in an attempt to get financial information.
