I get calls from this number starting at 8 and ending at about 11. Its stupid, they suggest I owe some crazy amount to a magazine company. Sometimes they block their name and number and just come up unknown name and unknown number. Its really annoying and I wish I could get it to stop, but I might just change my number.

I am so frustrated with these stupid calls. I calculated it today how much time I lost and so far between 8am-4pm, I lost a total of a 1/2 out of my workday and that was just from 6 calls. I have yet to get anyone on the other line yet when I answer it. My  word this is just crazy and stupid.

Also know this about FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act) as it pertains to third party collection agencies (this is from memory, so it may not be 100% accurate, check with your state's ACA, or American Collectors Association, for accuracy. In this case, it's called the ICA, or Illinois Collectors Association, and the name varies by state):

1.) They must identify themselves thruthfully.
2.) They must identify that this is an attempt to collect a debt (mini-miranda)
3.) They may only call between the hours of 8AM and 8PM of the receivers time zone.
4.) They may not call neighbors, family members, friends (usually found during skip tracing via tools like Accurint or Lexis-Nexis).
5.) The collector must never use profanity.
6.) They can only call once a day at your home number (Sorry, they can call cell phones multiple times as far as the law is concerned).
7.) If they call you at work, and you tell them they cannot call you at work, they can no longer contact you that way.
8.) If you send them a written directive via regular mail (do it via certified mail for proof of delivery) to cease collection efforts, they can no longer contact you about that specific debt. (Get advice from your state's ACA about this to do it right)

They call my house every day(sometimes twice a day).  I did actually talk to them a couple of times and they asked for my 27 year old son who hasn't lived at home since 2001 and has never lived in the house we live in now.  Wouldn't give me any information as to why they wanted to talk to him and when I told them to stop calling my house they became very rude and started talking over me. The person I spoke with said her name is Brittany.

I just got a call from this number this morning at 9:33 a.m. EST.  I live in PA, and the caller ID came up as Illinois Call.  When I did a reverse lookup of the number, it said it was a landline in NJ.  No one said anything when I answered.  I didn't even hear a click like someone hung up.  This is the second weird call like this I've gotten since the beginning of the year.  I don't call them back because I don't trust that and I don't want my real information showing up on their caller ID in case they were randomly dialing numbers, you know?

I recieved a call from 732-218-3621 also and this was a scam from the start.  The women wanted bank info and when I asked her info she was very rude.  I asked all the questions I could trying to find out who this was and she wouldnt give me anything.  She told me I owed money but thats it.  I have filed a claim with the BBB for fraud and I suggest you do the same.

I received a call from this number today. They claim to be collecting a debt that does not exist. Indicating they contacted me a couple of weeks ago about it...which was not true.

He says: "Hello i'm calling because you were contacted a couple of weeks ago about a debt you have from 2001 for some magazines your ordered - Fortune, Mad, Elle, etc... - the total you owe is $4828 or $48.28. How would you like to take care of it"

I Say: "No one ever called me. This is the first time i'm hearing about this Debt. The magazines you say I ordered aren't even my type of magazines as I am a Graphic Designer. And I have been monitoring my Credit report for the past 2 years and have never seen that on there.

He Says: "Well, you wouldn't see it on there because it's been passed on to us and has been consolidated. Someone has been making payments on this account, How would you like to cover the balance?"

I Say: "Well, the person making the payments wasn't me. And i'm not going to pay for something I did not order. Plus i'm hearing this for the first time in 7-8 years. So you can send it back to them."

He Says: "Well, you're going to be receiving more info about this in the mail. I'll send back your account."J

Yeah! I got a call from these hamhocks!  I didn't answer it, though... who the heck wants to talk to someone from Jersey?  I bet they use self tanner, cuz the rocks and water they call beaches suck! either that or they don't like wadin' through the syringes... anyway... the suckers...

I just got a call from this number a few mins ago on my cell. Which is odd b/c I don't give out my cell number. I tried to call it back but it just rings a few times then hangs up. They left a message saying call back at 888-517-7852. I tried that as well and it did the same thing. Does anyone have any info on whats going on or how to stop it?

I got a call from this number and they hung up when I answered.  When I googled the number and saw these blog messages I decided to call them back. They said thay were Luckey Baker an Assoc collecting for unpaid mag subscriptions from 2002.  When I asked what mags she rattled off names I'd never heard of.  I asked what address they went to and she gave me a PO box that I never had.  It's definitly a scam.

You need to find out an address and send a letter to cease and desist calling your house. Make sure you put in there that you have advised people on numerous occassions that the person they are looking for is not at that address or phone number. Copy the Federal Trade Commission and the BBB. If they call again after having a letter sent to them, they may be in violation of some law and can be fined. You would have to look it up under your state statutes. Collections law.

I got a call today from that same number.The caller ID said Illinois caller and someone left a message to call your mother and hung up.I've chosen not to call back

Received a call from this number today on my cell. Didn't answer. Tried to call back..They wouldn't talk. So I simply called them back from my work phone landline (which is recorded for quality assurance) and began to ask them to buy Girl Scout cookies....Over and over and over again. Guess we will see what happens next!

I just got a call from this number and when I answered I said hello three times and the person on the other end of the line hung up on me.

I didn't answer it because I didn't recognize the number but did a google search on it and all this stuff pops up on this number with the same mo as what I saw on the caller ID. Illinois call

ok my wife got the call and i called them back.the guy said they were trying to find someone else who had this number.i told him to remove us from his system or i would contact my lawyer.he said ok and he romoved it.so he said, we will see.

Calls multiple times with no message.  Called back on another line and they answered in another language and it sounded like spanish. I think they are pretending because when I challenged them they understood me but continued in another language.

I just recieved the same call.  I had looked a previous number they were calling me from. No one would say anything and then hang up.  So I called them back and gave them the phone number they called and simply told them they had the wrong number. He aplogized and said he would remove my number.  I hope this works...

Multiple calls per day trying to collect debt. No answer when called back.
