- Liz SmithAfter receiving three calls from this number in the past week in the AM caller finally spoke into the answering machine. When I picked up he said his name was “Arnold” and he was calling from the “National Protection Service”. Informed him we were on the National Do Not Call list and asked him to stop calling. Looked up National Protection Service on Google. Their number is 1-800-228-6160. Spoke to “Al” who said the calls were not coming from them and that there was nothing he could do. Dialed 888-986-8526 and a woman answered the call “National Protection Service”. I informed her that we were on the National Do Not Call list and that I was going to report them to the FTC. “What is the FTC?” She was angry and abusive. Called 1-800-228-6160 and asked to speak to a supervisor. “Ian” stated that he was one of the supervisors. He too, did not recognize the 888#. I described what had been happening, that we were on the Do Not Call list and would be reporting the calls to the FTC to which he replied that they wouldn’t do anything about it. I asked him if they conducted telemarketing calls to which he replied “Of Course we do.” I asked him if they recognize the Do Not Call list. He said he would remove our number from their databank/call list. I don’t know what good it will do, as he couldn’t verify that the calls were made by his company. If they were, it sure seems like an odd way to generate business.

- DaniceComplaint Review: National Protection Service AKA Motor Vehicle Protection Corporation
National Protection Service Moor Vehicle Protection Corp; Selltel Inc.; Selltel of Fla Inc.; Warrantybynet; National Protection Plan fraudulently stole money from my 78-year old mother & is doing it again after our bank filed fraud report. In January 2010, a telemarketer from Warranty Protection Services called and basically bullied my elderly mother into trying their automobile warranty service for our 2002 Honda for a month for an initial deposit of $50.00 to be paid immediately with her bank debit card. The representative said he would send her the paperwork and no other money would come out of her account unless she signed the forms and sent them back to the company. My mother never signed any forms, nor did she send anything to the company stating that they could automatically take out $147.08 out of her checking account every month. For the next ten months, $147.08 was taken out of her account without her knowledge or permission. She is elderly and has a declining memory which led to the warranty company being able to extract the money for so many months. I was asked by my mother to help with her finances and came upon these charges. She was able to tell me about the initial phone call and the circumstances following. She immediately called her bank and filed fraudulent forms against the warranty company. The bank was only able to refund my mother for $819.16, equal to approximately five and one-half months of the service. The company realistically still owes another $819.16 to equal the ten months of the warranty that she did not sign up for. While at the bank, my mother cancelled the debit card that was used so as to prevent any further charges by the warranty company and the bank was also aware not to allow any further charges by this company as well.
Unbelievably, on 02 February 2011, the same warranty company was able to debit two charges of $97.08 equal to $194.16, plus the $819.16 the company has stolen from my mother. Our bank has been alerted once more and I am filing complaints with every legal agency in existence to get my mother's money back and to prevent any other person from having to go through this nightmare.

- N.JerseyNational Protection Service AKA Motor Vehicle Protection Corporation. Rep tried to cajole me into giving her my credit/debit card number to pay for suspicious vehicle warranty deal. Brick, New Jersey-Received phone call at 12:14 p.m. on April 7, 2012. Middle-aged woman, with a New Jersey accent, spoke to me over the phone to offer me a supposed one-time only deal to pay for an extended car warranty to provide complete coverage for my vehicle for the next 3 years. Woman told me about a couple of different payment plans that I could use to pay for the extended warranty. One was for $124.80 for 15 monthly payments, with a down payment of $623.00. The other payment option was for $134.06 for 16 monthly payments, with a down payment of $350.00. She asked me my vehicle make & model, I told her that info. She also asked for my mailing address, which I also gave. Woman phone rep also told me her name was Janice. I did not give any of that information to Janice until after she told me several times, "Sir, in order to find out what your warranty payment plan is, I need that information!" However, I informed Janice that I don't make the final financial decisions in my household, but that someone else does & that I would have to confer with that person about it. She asked me if I was affiliated with a power of attorney. That was when I got very suspicious about the call. I told her that information as to who I consult with on financial decisions was private. She repeatedly asked me if I consult my finances with a family member, financial representative, my bank, or, once again, a power of attorney! A few minutes later, she demanded that I give her my credit or debit card number to make an immediate payment for either payment plan that she told me about earlier. I repeated the same refrain to her that I don't make the final financial decisions in my household. She then abruptly yelled, "This warranty deal is off! You have a nice day, Sir!" Then hung up. Which I was glad she did. Especially after reading some of the reports filed by various people on this website! Obviously a big scam going around nationally! I noticed the phone number had the area code of my state of residence, Tennessee, though the phone rep told me that she was calling from New Jersey!

A young lady called my ninety year old mother today. Unfortunately, she gave her check # and unkowingly authorized $296 to be taken from her bank account. I will contact her bank in the morning to alert her account. My mother is very upset with herself. This makes me very angry when someone takes advantage of my mom. The caller stated that she owed $296 dollars now and would then have to pay a monthly fee, unknown at the time.- Caller: National Protection Service

Contacted my mother (elderly) and got her to disclose debit card for 50.00 to try service for one month. Service then proceeded to extract 147.08 out of her checking account without her written permission- bank did get some of the money back, unfortunately not all, and this month the company again debited 97.08 out of her account twice- and this is after she had changed her debit card. Do not give out any information to this company at all!!!- Caller: National Protecton Service

- WisconsinI was just called ....she went into a spiel; when I asked why they were calling when I didn't want the service, she said "How would I know that?" I explained, that I didn't want the service because I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR IT. She told me I should go back to bed and get more sleep so I wouldn't be a B*tch! That's going to make me want to purchase something for you, folks!

- Concerned SonThese people called my 80-year-okd mother yesterday to say her car was in serious danger of being out of warranty and she faced all sorts of dangers if she didn't sign up for a new warranty. She asked repeatedly for more time to think and research but the salesman told her she needed to decide right then. She reluctantly gave her banking information, then had second thoughts and tried to withdraw her order. She was transferred to a second, even more insistent representative, who told her the company had already entered her information and could not do anything about it. My mother sheepishly called me later to report her bad judgment and I didn't have the heart to say she's now aged into the "victim class." Is there some sort of law enforcement agency that can grab these crooks?

- GloriaMy dear, forgetful, 82 year old father was conned by these people! They charged his credit card for 3 months in a row for $113.64 - indicating a WARRANTY-UPV3863. If I called the 800 number - it was always a recording; and I could never get a live person to talk to. We are disputing the charges with VISA and should get a refund. Please warn your elderly friends, who seem to be their targets.

- AMSThis "so called" Motor Vehicle Protection Corporation out of New Jersey, is calling people and being very insistent to sell you an extended warranty. They have a Parent company called Vemeco out of Texas. The ladies names I collected were Amy Ross, Melissa M. and Anita, although they all sounded the same to me. They called my elderly mother-in-law and took advantage of a woman whom doesn't EVEN OWN A VEHICLE! They were very pushy with her making her believe the vehicle she drives on occasion was in extreme danger if the warranty was not extended. The vehicle actually belongs to her son. They would not let her look into it. They convinced her to give her bank info and then consult with her son. Stating they would not make a transaction for two to three business days. I called the customer care number back and had my mother-in-law have them revoke her commitment and asked for a confirmation#, which they would not offer. Please warn other people.

- KathyI too am a former employer of this company.. and I really mean FORMER. It has been 10+ yrs since I have worked there. The "Real" name of this company is National Protection Service. The physical address of this company is 393 Mantoloking Rd. Brick NJ 08723 . Phone number is (732) 262-7780 The owner is David Gartenberg, I also believe his son, Evan Gartenberg is now an owner. Carla Maxwell, is the sales manager, and yes it is true, she is extremely rude and uncaring. This company has been in business for well over 20 years.FYI.. anytime you buy ANYTHING for a company, sight unseen, the US law REQUIRES a 30 day money back guarantee. This is the main reason for their 30 day waiting period before you are actually able to use the warranty.
