These people have called our home from this number at least 20 times over the last several weeks from UofMIch and left messages or disconnected calls.  We spoke to them 3 separate occasions and told them to stop calling...they apologize and say they are conducting an "important government survey and our household has been specially selected to answer questions."  Tonite they called around dinner time, I told the woman to STOP CALLING OUR HOME!  She apologized and kept trying to get us to answer questions...I finally said I would call UM tomorrow and report them for harassment!

it's a University of Michigan outgoing number. So there is no way to know which department had made that call for what reason without a voice mail. But one of the many calls I got was a call for a job interview though.

I got a call and message (5 seconds of silence with a hang up).

Weird thing is...I've never had any dealings with the state of Michigan or the university.  This number called me at a federal installation in South Mississippi.

it's not just a university of michigan pediatrics number

rather, it's a number that MANY departments (if not all) in the university use as a (but not the only one) standard outgoing phone number

constantly calling...want to pay me $20.00 (2 days ago)and now today $50, for a economic survey....I told them then and now I am not interested.  The calls continue to the point where I shut off my phone.  My husband heard on CNN, this is the new scam.  They want to pay you for your survey, THRU DIRECT DEPOSIT, therefore, getting all banking info and cleaning you out!
    BEWARE!!!

This is a generic U of M outgoing switchboard number. The call can be from anywhere on campus. I received a call from a department secretary on this line.

I got a call today from this number, at my parents' house, which is my old number.  I star-69ed it and called back.  I got a voicemail saying that this is outgoing caller ID number for all University of Michigan departments.

I am an UM alum, so I'm guessing that the call was for a survey or soliciting donations.

734-647-0000 is the main UM telephone number. Nearly all calls from UM (academic, administrative, health system, etc.) show up as this number.

It seems that some if not all phone calls coming from within the U of Mich system goes through this ID caller number.  I just got an important call from U of Mich in Flint that I was expecting and the caller ID was this number.  Just FYI.

At first I blocked their number, then I decided to play a very sneaky and fun game today.  I programmed my phone so that incoming calls from this number get forwarded back to their own number.  The first call came in at 3:01 p.m. and they called several times back to back, then stopped.  I only wish I could see their confusion trying to figure out how that is happening. LOLLLL!

I just got a call from this number and it was in response to an ad on craigslist that I put up. I decided to look up the number cuz my husband thought it was weird that the last 4 digits were 0000... I'm glad I looked it up cuz now I am definitely blocking that number and not calling them back. I have no reason to accept any calls from the University of Michigan since I don't know anyone out there and have no plans to attend the school.

This is a University of Michigan trunk line.  All U of M calls (hospital, clinic, university admissions, finanial aid, professors offices, etc., etc.) will go through this number or a similar trunk number which will show up on caller id.  U of M workers know this trunk number is what shows up on the receivers caller id.  If it's appropriate, they will leave you a message with a call back number that will get you to the person or office who called.  Unfortunately, if you don't have voicemail, you won't know who to call.
