Caller ID said Broward Sheriff.  This is not a number listed on their website and caller left no message, so it couldn't have been very important.

Second call I received this week. Answered the first one and it was for a donation. The other was at 9:30pm and no messages was left on VM when I didn't answer. Now, BLOCKED. Supposedly, from the Broward County, Forida Sheriff's. 754 is from a cell phone.  Police in this area have legitimately called from cell phones.

Called twice  yesterday from the sheriff in Deerfield Beach Florida looking for a donation.  Why would the sheriff in Florida be calling people in New England. This has got to be a scam.

Someone called this morning at 9:16 AM, the caller ID said: 17542121092.  My phone number is registered on the national and Florida Do Not Call Lists and I reported this call to them.  However these are probable scammers and WILL NOT abide by any DNC List!

Based on this website they are posing as fake Florida Sheriff’s trying scam people like us into donating to their FAKE charities, thus lining their pocks with our hard earned money!

Caller ID said Broward SO...not even in the right area code for Broward Co.  No message left.

Broward Sherifff Department, in FT Lauderdale. WHY they would be calling Hawai'i, I have no clue.  My gut says scam

I figured this was for a donation.  It may be legit but if you want to donate to this particular Sheriff's office I would suggest that you send into the actual department and not to the people calling.  I am sure if legit they get a percentage of donation...better to donate directly to them if you want.

I just got a call from this number.  I called back and listened to the message.  It gives you an option of pressing 1 if you feel you've received the call in error.  I pressed one.  Hopefully they will not call further.

Never received a call from these people before- I'm not in Broward County, Florida.
Sometimes, the local police dept does a broadcast call to county residents in case of an emergency like an escaped convict on the loose.  But gut told me not to answer.  So I did not.

Caller ID indicated call received from "Broward Sheriff" (754 area code) at 10:57am on 6/4/16 but no one responded when I answered. Four minutes later I received another call from a 561 area code and again no response upon answering. A check of that number indicated complaints received for both of them. There are devices that you can assign a phone number to in a manner to disguise the caller's name/real phone number.

The Sheriff's Office does not ask for donations.  They get your tax dollars. Get as much information that you can and report them. Yes they are scammers.

rec'd call. I am in palm beach county, so it looked fishy from that standpoint and I did not answer, but it got my attention, alas, since we have "family" in broward county.

Your just a scam..People..do not donate to them at all.They receive sufficient benefits already.Give to legitimate charities..Not scamming Sheriffs department as is the false claim..Sent this info to the sun sentiinel newpaper.Am awaiting to hear back from them.
