Blocked.  I used to get many telemarketing/scam calls.  My phone is via cable and I use a Panasonic telephone that has a setting to disable the first ring.  My computer does not have a voice modem, so I purchased one for $10.  The software I use is called Phonetray Free and works great.  After the first call, a number is blocked and then no more calls.  Each call is in a log. The software also allows blocking of entire AREA CODES (like New York area, Miami, California, etc.).  Only spoofed numbers can pass but since most spoofer are not too bright, they use the same number therefore no problem.  My call volume has dropped by 99%.  Phonetray Free has been replaced by Phonetray Pro from Softonic ($30).  I have no personal stake in any of this.

I answered but no one said anything & just hung up on me.

Caller ID said Deerfield Beach FL. I did not answer. A friend suggested I answer "unknown" calls by saying "Smith County Sheriff. This call is being recorded." She said she has done that a few times and never got called back.  Not sure how that would work if the call is "robo". But if you get a "human" it would probably at least give them a scare.  LOL

Police Union seeking donations

"Mark" claims to be collecting donations for Florida police officers. This is a scam. Florida police officers do not solicit this way. Check for yourself, call your local police on their business line.

Paid caller for a police officer foundation charity. No idea if it's real or not. Asked to be placed on their do not call list, even though I'm already on the national one. No use.

this number has called 10 times in a 10 day stretch - I have asked each rep to take our # out of there system - I get the same stupid answer as this is the first time they are calling me.... nailed this guy by telling him I have a time line of the dates, times and name of the reps that have called 9 times before him and will be lodging a complaint with the state agency that handles the do not call list---- can't wait to get 10 x $1,500.00 per call from The Police Foundation...... said he will remove my number before he hung up--- we'll see
