This person sends fraudulent bank drafts to people posting items for sale on Craig's List

I am so glad I saw this. I just received a similar offer from this same phone number and thought it was a little fishy. They offered to send me a check first and once it cleared then they would set up for movers to get. I didn't think that was a big deal and was going to try it since my parents own banks I can take the check to them to see if it's a fake but after seeing this I am not chancing it. Thank you!

Yes this is a known craigs list scam.  The check will be worthless, but it takes a while for the bank to find that out.  In the meantime you are instructed to send money to the "movers", and when the check bounces, you are stuck for the money to make it whole to the bank, plus the fees.  If they do send you a check in the mail, take it and the envelope it came in to your post office and have them forward it to the postal inspectors.

I got a txt about some clothes and shoes I posted for sale on craiglist. I responded the items were still available and then got this "Thanks for your quick response I'm okay with the price & condition, I plan to send the money in a bank check and USPS it to you then I k to be issue out to you, I await your response and after the the check clear my movers will come for up asap...." Weird. So I told them as per the listing I only accept cash. This person replied, "Only check trusted." Then I told him/her that it made no sense for "movers"  to pick these items up (2 pairs of shoes, 2 ladies suits, a sweater and a  dress), oh, and I only take cash. It all sounds suspicious, please don't contact me again. I haven't heard from them since.
