This is a Debt Recovery company in Virginia. There is no response from them until you speak.

Number calls, rings TWICE, then stops. No clue who it is. Recovery Portfolio is what caller ID says.

I just got a call from them. I was on the other line but have call waiting caller id. I didn't recognize the name or the number. My caller id said PORTFOLIO RECOV 757-321-2508. This was the first call and have no idea why. The phone rang twice and no voice mail was left. i ASSUME they are a debt collection agency. Odd as I haven't taken out any debt for over 10 years

I have been getting random calls from (757) 321 numbers for almost the past month or so to my TracFone.
All calls have been (757) 321 and a random last 4 digits.
This morning was the first time I received a call that had a matching number to a previous call, so I called back on our blocked house line.
It's "Portfolio Recovery Associates" at 757 321 2508.
I dont have any bills and I live on the West Coast and this is a debt collection "company" in Virgina?

It should also be noted that the phone had rang once this morning (as I saw someone mention above that there call they received last for 2 rings)

I also received a call, and when i mentioned it was not a good time for me to speak (i was at work) they were very persistant and rude!

Ya i get them calling my cell too picked up once just to find out luckly by a tech my phon is company issue my name H.O. pays for it so im allways at work saved the number once as BS and never pick up again.
I thought these people wern't allowd to call cell phones like tella marketers. tho 500-000-0000 is still my fav. serously who in there right mind would ever pick that call up on there cell thats like spam mail screams trouble

I received a call from this number on my CELL PHONE.
I don't give my number to anyone...not even my kids.

got a call from this number today on my cell phone; i answered it because my brother-in-law is in the military, stationed in virginia, so i thought it might be him; nobody would speak when i answered; turns out to be a bill collector;  collect away, losers, i don't have any money.

I get a call from this number daily.  I never answer it, because it shows
caller unknown (I don't waste my minutes on those kind of calls).  They have left a message on my voice mail, but I will not return their call because they ask for a certain person that is not me.  They are very
annoying.

Collection agency calling on my cell phone!!!  I haven't used credit to buy anything outside of my car in the last 12 years since my son was born.  Now they want to run up my cell phone minutes.  I told them to remove my cell phone from their list.

rang twice on my cell. I don't give out that number.

today is monday after Thanksgiving and I got a call from this number on my cell.

I don't answer unknowns on my cell so I blew it off!!

I rec'd a call from this number today as well...Christmas Eve, go figure. They left no message, and I, like most others on this post have nothing outstanding. My guess is, my name was put down as a reference for someone else they are looking for...who knows....but of course, no message...hmmm

I too received a call from 757-321-2508 last night 12/28/08. It was a girl, maybe in her 30's asking for someone named Eric. But the call seemed kind of wierd. Could have been a wrong number, but she seemed very strage when she spoke.

Also 877-803-0008 and 800-860-0644 They buy old unrecoverable debt then try to get you to pay. Legally they can not collect because it is past the 7 yrs. In my case it is 22 yrs. Now if you agree that you owe them - then seven years start over, this is what they try to get you to admit the debt.
They got my unlisted phone number and admitted to me that they don't know where I live. I have set the numbers in my phone to silent ring.

No response unless you speak first. When you see this number, do not answer. Don't play games by answering but not speaking; this will be recorded in their records.

Caller will not identify themselves, but ask for the person they want to speak to by first name and will try to trap you into revealing yourself. They go so far as to mispronounce your name to get you to talk.

If you choose to talk to them, DO NOT CONSENT to the recording of the call for "Quality Assurance." A recording of any type that you consent to CAN be used against you.

Ask them to send all information by mail as you will not discuss financial or personal information over the telephone.

At this point they will want to "verify" their information - DO NOT do this. If they know so much about you to call you, then have them prove it in their letter. Any "verification" by you either confirms or updates information of personal or financial information.

If they know so much about you, let them prove it in writing. In most cases, they are trying to revive a "debt" that has expired because of the seven year "write off" required in credit and debt reporting.

We get calls from them at all hours of the day and evening. very radom times and almost everyday. More often than not there is never a message left on the machine and when we have tried calling the number back it's always "busy". We have no debt and never have been in debt so if it is a debt recovery/consolidation agency then this is just harrassment and it needs to stop.
