That is a needlessly scripted response. Thug debt buyers are not intimidated by idle threats and they don't need instruction in FDCPA compliance. If what you want is a dunning letter or to end the calls, that's all you need to express. If they want to violate the law, let them discover your reaction *after* they get their summons and complaint.

Stop what, precisely? Reading your comment? Whoops! Too late.

Your callers do not maintain this site or this web page. Your callers cannot magically determine which numbers should not be called based on anonymous comments. You cannot expect compliance with your orders until you deliver them *directly* to your caller.

There is no "call list" for debt collectors, and wishing does not end the calls. You must TELL THEM to stop. USPS Certified makes an ideal delivery method for your orders.

You'd be surprised how long PRA can hold out. Some people report getting called for months and years about debts they've never owed and people they've never met, which makes direct confrontation vital.

Thank you for posting what you learned. Just know you are appreciated. Looking for the Atty who handled the lawsuit to see if we can still file. They have so many numbers I had to block. They harass on debts we don't have and the ones we do VA has paid the hospital.  So sick of the calls.

Do yourself a favor and read the many informative posts in this thread starting with my report on Portfolio on the first page.  Then use that information to your advantage.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.

You have 1 year to file.  You can use any attorney willing to take the case, but make sure they know Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act as those will be the 2 biggest money makers probably.  And he/she needs to be able to file in Federal court as well.  Take pictures of your caller ID, make copies of any messages left, and keep a written log of all calls.  That should give you the ammunition you need to get started.  Also send them a certified, return receipt letter to start a paper trail.  The CFPB has sample letters for you to look at, modify and use.   Time to go on the offense against these crooks.  Good Luck!  If you need more help just come back and ask, Reply to me or any of the other regulars here and we will get back to you.

It's really easy. You ask them for a fax# or their Corporate Address. They'll ask you why you want the fax, and tell em you need to send them something. They'll give it to you. Don't be cocky or an ass. Mail them a letter stating to "Cease & Desist" all contact and they'll stop.

"It's really easy. You ask them for a fax# or their Corporate Address"  Why would you need to ask them for that when everything about this company is posted right there including their address, BBB page with address, and links to the agencies to report them to.
