- Lynne - North VanWe have been harrassed by this number for a couple of weeks, several times a day. There is never anyone on the line when we answer. Told my husband to stop answering when he sees it on call display. Strangely a couple of minutes after each call, there is another call that not only does not show the name but also not the number just "PRIVATE". There is no one there on this one either. Too much of a coincidence...has to be the same caller. :(.
- Arthur| 1 replyBasically same as other comments. No answer when pick up. My call display says:
V52617112400050
Don't know what this is perhaps a registration number of some sort?- Caller: V52617112400050
- LynnThis number has called for a couple of weeks, several times a day. Each time nobody answered the phone! We need to find out who it was from. So annoying!
- Bob| 2 repliesAsked me what grade my kids are in
- Barbara - VancouverSame exact experience as Lynn - North Van listed above.
The 778 number with no one on other end. Then moments later
a private number with someone posing as a granddaughter in
distress. I don't have a granddaughter and told them so.
They called again less than 15 minutes later with same scam!- Caller: null
- yuriyCalls from an Academy of Learning 778 775-1534, scam about tutorial and evaluation of kids grade 4 to 12
- Caller: Academy Of Learning 1
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Ramoth_v2Called today just before 9pm; Call Display says "Unknown Number" - a legitimate business or school would display its name. I also got two other 'Unknown Number' scam call attempts today (one to my cell); and one that might be legit. Am reporting them all to the RCMP anti-fraud unit by email: info@antifraud.ca.
A legit school would not be phoning strangers directly; nor spoofing their phone number (you can call back a real one). They have NO reason to be phoning strangers an asking about what children they have - all REAL schools in Canada are registered with the province's Ministry of Education; or Ministry of Colleges, Training and Universities. Even private schools.
Almost every 'Unknown Caller' that starts with trying to pry your personal data from you - address, income level, credit information, family details - even claiming you've won/earned a discount/free travel/take a survey - are all professional scammers; or asking about family details (and later you get the 'emergency call from a fictitious grandchild' - these are ALL SCAMS. Do NOT speak to a live person, call back, or press ANY buttons - it just validates your number and you get MORE scam calls; and they sell/share their lists.
They do not know you; they do not CARE about Registries - because they are all crooks! Real companies DO respect the Registries and telecommunications regulations. These b......ds don't! They use a computer with VoIP over an internet line, and spoof/fake the numbers they are calling from. They use your personal data to create Fake IDs and commit more fraud! Scams within scams. Just Hang Up!
Report the numbers, date & time of call, scam type to your federal anti-fraud unit. In Canada you can email the RCMP at info@antifraud.ca.- Caller: Academy of Learning
