They never leave messages and act like they are law enforcement..when you do answer. - COWGIRL replies to cybermentschThey are NOT the Fraternal Order Of Police the SCAMMERS who call from these numbers. They are nothing more then SCAM ARTISTS trying to rip people off of their money. I'm not stupid enough to fall for their SCAM and hope nobody else would believe they are who they say. Nothing more then a LIE. Last time some scammer called from this fake number they were to STUPID to speak so I hads a few choice words for them.
- shannonConstant calls but rings only 3 times then hangs up. Said FL FOP FNDN on caller ID. I finally was able to answer before 3rd ring and they hung up. I then called the number back and got a man named Gus. I told him what had been happening and that I was going to make my own call to report them and I haven't had any more calls.

- Florida2These people will not stop calling me no matter how many times I ask them to. They pretend that they are actual police officers when in fact they are just telemarketers. They boast that there is nothing anyone can do as they fall under "Charity" calls! Also, every time they call, they change the last 2 digits of their number: 786-358-55xx. This should be illegal also.
Here is a link to where they recruit these criminals:

- snow replies to Megg| 7 repliesThis phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Florida State Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number. It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there’s information on floridastatefop.org, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for Florida police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good. - Vic replies to snow| 1 replySnow is leaving this same message, word for word, on various sites as a selling point. But if that were true the person calling wouldn't always hang up. From her wording, it seems they want you to call them. Maybe then, they could say they didn't solicit anything from you.
- PatriciaIt appears that Portfolio Recovery Associates is looking to collect personal information by any means, even illegal ones, so they can use it to perpetrate credit card and ID fraud and it is possible this sort of thing may be accomplished by:
-Placing harassing calls to people to try to get personal information.
-Placing harassing calls to confirm some information they have and get more to use.
-Using people and businesses in the finance industry that they know and are able to access the credit card bureaus and are willing to do this without getting permission required.
-Using Twitter to get people to connect with them using their own and many other fictitious names and by putting themselves on the lists related to financing to get people to connect with them.
- “Working” with or for other financial companies regarding credit card consolidation or debt recovery to get more names and personal information of people to harass and ruin.
-Using connections with photographers to produce fake IDs to use for ID theft and credit card fraud and this creates more ruined people as customers for them.
Their information trail seems to lead to other countries and the terrorist groups in them that are trying to ruin the U.S. economy and morale of the U.S.
This a perfect set up as they are set up and to look like a U.S. based company doing a service … when they are actually doing a disservice. And while they are at it … make some money to funnel back into their cause.
Have you had the "honor" of being called by them? Considering they already into your business with their apparently dirty “business” … and since the State Attorney Generals are waiting for information and either poised to act or have already found them guilty … seems you might as well take the legal route and go straight to your state attorney general. This way you help others, the U.S. the economy … and yourself.- Caller: Portfolio Recovery Associates
- fredniem replies to snowActually, the call was for the Utah Fraternal order of Police; I guess the funraisers operate out of Miami, FL.
