    I used to work for one of these numerous companys. They are owned by the same people thru out the east coast. but have different names in different states. I worked there for a short time because I realized the loans they were having me collect on were old loans that were out of the statue of limitations, and we were collecting on them illegally. They also would hand a a FDCPA collection laws handbook and tell us if anyone asks say we practice it. In all acuality we were told to disregard it entirely. We were told to threaten people with fake law suits and to say we would report them to social sercurity. Even told to place the caller on hold and say a manager needed to speak to them. The manager was never really a manger. Its called a second voice and you asked the person sitting next to you to pretend to be that manager. I have even witnessed someone get on this website and say they are someone who had a debt and that the company really helped them. Its all bogus.We had fake attorneys who would get on the line and litigators all a joke. The funny part is that some of the employees had felonys and shouldnt have been working anywhere near personal information such as credit cards social security numbers and bank accounts. When ex employees get on here verifying its a scam they rebuttle with oh you must be bitter were you fired. Well guess i sure was not they begged me not to leave. I quit because i have morals and values.

    scammed
    i see that someone wrote that they tried to pay there student loan and tx gov wouldnt give them a payment plan. that is too funny because i have talked to a girl at windham professionals and she told me she was collecting for my defaulted school loan. And i was more than willing to make automatic payments to be taken from my bank account. So i thought all was worked out and the payments were being taken out and i kept getting other collection agencies for them saying that i wasnt making payments. it seemed every month i was going through this. i had to keep calling and explaining i had the withdrawl amount paper from my bank in front of me. i just recently(today)got a letter from the comm of Mass telling me im in default and i explained that this happens every month and the man said that he doesnt know who i have been dealing with but this entire time iv been making payments towards my no interest loan that not one time did it show on there records. so i immediately called my bank and told them to cease all automatic withdrawls from them and ill be coming in to close and reopen another bank account. The lady i spoke with(at windham professionals) seemed so nice and professional one minute and the next she had to get off the phone asap. pretty much hanging up on me. Things were extremely weird everytime i got a phone call or called, it seemed she had 2 personalities. but i havent ever been scammed like that and i didnt believe i could be and im on ssi/disabled and i cant afford to be paying people that i dont owe. im so upset with myself but how was i suppose to know.

    Called me, my parents, and my father-in-law. Say I have a student loan to a school I never attended. I have never had a student loan. Got mad when I wouldn't give my ssn. Yelled at me for 20 minutes. I put my phone on the corner of my desk and kept working. This type of harassment needs to be stopped. Made a threat that they would continue to call and harass me and my entire family. I called my parents and fil and told them to just hang up on them.

    Called me at work. Used my first name, but never could hear what they said as last name.Then asked to confirm the last four of a SSN which was not mine. She got ugly and asked how that could be my name and not the correct ssn. Hmmmm, I know more than 1 person with my same first AND last name.  She was ugly and I eventually had to hang up.

    Received a call (this isn't the first) from (800)208-5076. "Mr Burgess" calling from Windham/Wyndham Systems College Collections.  AGAIN told them the person for whom they were 'searching' (Casey/Kasi/Kasey) isn't AT this phone number and AGAIN told them not to call my cell phone again!
    We'll see what happens!

    This company keeps leaving messages on my machine for a Matthew Hartley.  I call there # 866 432-0227 to talk to a Shannon Coppas, and all I get is a message machine.  After a long time of listening to their damn message center, I tell them their problem, and they continue to leave messages.  How do I get rid of these annoying jerks?

    Seems a lot of people are bothered by Windham Pro over debt that isn't even theirs. Well, be ignorant no more, go to this link, and be on your way to a quick $1,000. http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/creditorharassment.shtml

    Most Collection Agencies don't show up to small claims court. Even if they do, if they broke the law attempting to collect a debt, and you're the victim, there is a very good chance you'll win. If they press you, sue them for harassment. It's very easy and affordable.

    Eagerly awaiting another call from these F**ks! I sure hope they like to harass as much as people say. I don't take kindly to people calling me and saying money is owed by somebody I don't even know. It's not my fault the guy put my number down. He probably didn't intend on paying. The way I see it, he did me a favor though. Harass me more, please. I'd love a quick $1,000. Pleeeeeeease

    My brothers and I have been getting calls from some woman looking for one of us, claiming to be our cousin. She actually hunted down a sister in law of mine and left a similar message saying she was our cousin and was trying to get in touch with us. I listened to the message, the woman is clearly educated and absolutely has a thick Mass. accent. We are from Mass, and I can spot the accent in a second. I knew something was fishy because any cousin of mine with that accent most certainly would not sound educated (sad to say). My only direct call from this person came this morning looking for me and knew both my married and maiden names, the caller ID (this is the first and only time after several calls to various family members that a phone number popped up) showed Windham P 800-208-5076. She asked for me by name, I asked what it was in reference to, she stated she was a cousin of mine and had crossed referenced this phone number. My number is not listed ANYWHERE, I had this done purposely so I can't be found. She was clearly calling from an office, I could here other operators, phones, typing etc. I stated she had the wrong number. I looked the phone number up and got this site. Neither I nor my husband has any outstanding debts, certainly no school loans, all are paid in full for many years. BEWARE!!!

    One of the big problems with collection agencies like this one - other than the lying, cheating, and harassment - is that they will "purchase" debts from valid collection agencies for pennies on the dollar then use their bullying tactics to try and collect the money.

    Another thing they do is take old debts that are well past their statute of limitations and post a "payment" to it.  This makes the debt look like it's still active and essentially resets the clock.

    Do not give them any personal information (SSN, bank accounts, credit cards).  The people they have working for them are criminals - some of them literally!

    If you do owe money to a school, go to directly to the school and see if you can get it resolved through them. If not, find a valid and credible credit counselor to help.

    Lastly, file complaints with the Better Business Bureau and/or the Federal Trade Commission.

    File complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.  If you go to the BBB website there are over 100 complaints about this company and their harassment.

    Quote some of the rules to them too (this comes directly from the FTC website):

    What practices are off limits for debt collectors?
    Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:

    *use threats of violence or harm;
    *publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
    *use obscene or profane language; or
    *repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.

    False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

    *falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
    *falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
    *falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
    *misrepresent the amount you owe;
    *indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren’t; or
    *indicate that papers they send to you aren’t legal forms if they are.

    Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:

    *you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt;
    *they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the *action and intend to do so; or
    *legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action.

    Debt collectors may not:

    *give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit reporting company;
    *send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency if it isn’t; or
    use a false company name.

    Unfair practices. Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

    *try to collect any interest, fee, or other charge on top of the amount you owe unless the contract that created your debt – or your state law – allows the charge;
    *deposit a post-dated check early;
    *take or threaten to take your property unless it can be done legally; or
    *contact you by postcard.
