- CWG40| 1 replyThe large number of shillers basically posting to tell everyone how "legit" this number is, is pretty strong evidence of a scam.
This number is most likely part of a larger fraud campaign targeting the customers of large-scale financial or commercial institutions.
The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real, is evidence of con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.
Thirty-nine entries in this thread and I count 19 as shill posts.
At a 49 % shill rate, there should be no question that this is part of a scam. At least that's the way I see it based on my own research. I've seen percentages go even higher.
This scam is well documented. Simply google it out. Based on my research this scam has been going on since about 2008.
These type of calls follow a similar pattern. They all claim to be from groups like Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, Fifth Third Bank, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc as well as Credit Unions. Or claim to be CC processors. Or “Fraud Detection”.
All with the same type of postings. All claiming there is something wrong with your card or that some questionable purchase has been made. Or something similar. They all ask for personal or personal financial information.
Just part of the shillers criminal MO.
I've noticed the shill posters often use the same turns of phrase. Same old, same old verbiage telling everyone how "legit" the calls are.
Personally I think the group or groups posting this shillage-spillage are located in either the US or Canada, or perhaps both. They may also be working with scammers outside of North America.
In any event , never give out any personal or financial information to anyone who cold calls you. If there are any problems with your card, always call the number on the back of the card or the official number on the monthly statement you receive.
Call history on 800notes for this type of scam, so far. (That I’ve been able to find.)

A shill alert has been issued. Always call the number on the back of your credit card or visit your local bank branch. We now return to our regularly scheduled posts.Quote:I don't have Chase Bank, I think it's a service any bank can use. Totally legit. So glad I got the call!! - Chris HastyI received 2 calls yesterday. I didn't answer, but they left a voice mail saying there was suspicious activity on my Chase account and stated if I wanted to hear more to call them back. I didn't, I knew it was fraud

- Darrell youngReceived a text say I they were the fraud dept of my credit card number and that lifeloc was chairing 303 dollars and I need to call this number
- GrI received an automated call from this # this morning, a Sunday, directed to a member of the houshold (who does not have a Chase acct) saying it was Comenity Bank.
- Caller: Comenity bank
- GrWe have received 4 calls today alone, and all supposedly from Comenity telling us there are questionable charges. I have confirmed there is no issue with that acct so the only thing questionable is who is really calling. This has GOT to be a scam!
- Caller: Comenity
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- BWReceived a call from 800-216-2032 yesterday. Didn't pick up. Message said they were Fraud Protection Dept. of my credit card vendor. I verified on-line no recent transactions on that card but then called my credit card company and was told a temporary hold was placed on the card due to some recent attempts from a previous vendor I thought I had cancelled auto-renew with. Seems the phone number is legit but credit card rep. couldn't explain why 800 number from the call wasn't the same as the number on my card.
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- MeFraud, scam. They say they’re the fraud service for Comenity Bank and call you with the wrong customer name. They’re phishing for your ID and personal info. LIARS

- prettyinpinkJust wanted to update you guys, I received two missed calls from this number today, and this time around they disguised themselves as Comenity Bank Department of Fraud instead of Chase.
- Caller: Comenity

- JedThis number was listed as Commenity Bank not Chase as those listed by others
I will call my bank to see if it is legitiment.- Caller: Commity Bank

- Tygerkat replies to SkepticOh, look! Another shill. There is no logical reason for you to look up a known phone number so you must be here to shill, right?
- Deborah 0skipworth| 1 replyI have an invoice on my PayPal account for $999 for an i phone from a company called pc support. When I called the number on the billing they answered Amazon. Its not Amazon. Called PayPal they told me I could click deny payment but there's no such option. Just want the invoice off my account. Seems like PayPal would be interested in a scam invoice but I guess not which surprised me.
- Caller: Amazon
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- BigA replies to Deborah 0skipworthThere is no invoice on your account. This is a well known scam. PayPal can do nothing about it since the people doing this are overseas, probably in india.
