This is Chase Fraud Detector.  They called me because people from three different states were trying to charge on my account on the internet.  I am glad they called me to ask if I had made those purchases.

I've gotten legit calls from this number. However...

Any idiot with an internet connection or the right phone system can spoof caller ID. This is not a secure way to know who is really calling you.

Don't answer, then call them back. That's the only way to know you're really talking to the bank.

I received 2 calls from this number in reference to my Chase Freedom card.  I looked it up on the chase website and could not find it.  I called a known chase number and was put through to their Fraud Detection line.  I was able to verify that this is a Chase number.  I made them aware of the concerns around this number along with my research on their website and others.  I asked them to get this changed and suggested that they have the caller call the number on the back of their card and have a prompt for the Fraud Detection Unit. doing this would eliminate the concerns that have compiled from this.  Chase is going to look into this and hopefully resolve this issues surrounding this.

Legitimate number. I lost my debit and credit cards on the train this morning and right after I cancelled all my cards they called me letting me know that there was some activity on the account. Great Service. Worth paying $11.99 every month for.

I called chase and it is NOT one of theirs.  Its close-.
When I called the number it says google voice services
This sounds like a scam for sure

This is definitely a legitimate number for Chase Credit Card Services Fraud Detection.  It's the second time in two years I've received a call from them letting me know my credit card had been compromised.  Good job, Chase!

THIS MORNING & DIDN'T ANSWER.CAME IN HERE TO LOOK IT UP & SEEN WHERE EVERYONE HAS SAID IT WAS CHASE FRAD DECT, SO I HAD THERE MAIN NO. 1-800-542-3880 WHICH I CALLED TO VERIFY THIS I DID MAKE A PURCHASE ON THE INTERNET LAST NITE WITH MY CARD, SO I CALLED THE 5423880 NO. BACK IT WAS LIGIET NO. CHASE SAID THEY HAVE MANY CTRS. FOR CALL BACKS . SHE ALSO CONFIRMED ABOUT MY RECENT TRANSITION SAID THE 800-216-2032 COULDN'T GET ME TO ANSWER . WHICH IS CORRECT  SHE WENT ON TO TELL ME IT WAS A LIGGETT CALL & SHE EVEN TOLD ME WHAT TIME THE COMP CALLED ME.......SO THIS IS A SAFE NO. IT DOESN'T HURT TO CHECK SO I ALWAY'S DO  I WILL CONFIRM THIS IS WHO THEY SAY ( CHASE FRAUD ) TO ASK U IF U MADE O PURCHASE ON UR CHASE CAED  IT'S OK..........

800-216-2032 does really belong to Chase Card Services. If you have "card protection services" with them then you will be called anytime you make a purchase using your card that you have protection on. I have "Internet Protection", and anytime I make a purchase over the NET they will call immediately to confirm that you did indeed make that purchase. Saved me several times from fraudulant scams....So if anyone out there sees this number they are legit.

Fake call claiming to be from Chase bank - I verified with Chase that this is indeed a phishing fraud and has nothing to do with them.

Notice all the shill postings claiming that the call is real - a sure sign of a fraud.  There are numerous reports on 800notes of numbers claiming to be "fraud alerts" from a number of different financial institutions, all with large numbers of shill postings very similar to the ones here - likely part of a widespread fraud campaign:

Called about change of address yet receiving mail fine from Chase at the new address, just looked at last 3 bills and snailmail spam and yes no problem with addressing.  They are trying to sell more services for Chase Identity Protection like Credit Report Monitoring and using an excuse like a problem with change of address.

This is Chase Bank Fraud Operations. They caught a fraudulent (or mistaken) charge on my credit card. Okay by me!

If it's Chase and they're legit why are they calling me I don't have a Chase card

Thanks for your contributions folks! I have a Chase card that I only use for automated bill pay for my insurance. I will call the # on my card tomorrow to see if everything's ok.

Recd text msgs indicating possible fraud on acct but the number was different than on card, not with Chase but with another company. When I called the number on my card & talked with fraud dept I learned there are fraudulent pending charges on the account. The phone number is apparently a valid one with my card company.
