The number started calling me a few days ago, the last time they called they left a message saying it's important that I call back. I entered the number in google and found the number on pages of TG (Texas guaranteed student loans). I don't have a student loan, they must be looking for somebody else.

I got a call from that number as well. They want me to pass on their number to a friend of mine, who, I would guess, had a student loan through them. I'll wait until I talk to them directly on the phone, and I'll inform them that I will pass on their number, and the fee for message forwarding is 75 dollars - how would you like to pay?

A lady called asking for a "Michael" and that is not me. This is my personal cell phone whoever these people are and they need to stop calling me and "Michael" needs to stop giving out my phone # to these people! I told them to remove my phone # from their database. So whoever Michael is...you need to call and pay your college student loan.

Got a call from this number. I didn't answer put they left a VM and some woman named Valerie from Texas Guaranty said she was looking for Janet but didn't say why.

She told me I had defaulted without even checking that I was the right person.  Then, after I told her there was no way that was true, she checked my info against her computer and figured out she didn't have the right person. I guess they don't check the names/numbers against their computers before they call.

They keep calling, the attorney general's office has already a case open on them and my number is on the do not call list, yet they still call.

This number called me but I dont have voice mail and I didnt answer so i dont know what they wanted.

This is definitely Texas Guaranteed.  They are a legitimate company dealing with defaulted student loans.  If they are calling you and are trying to reach someone else, just tell them they have a wrong number and ask to have your number removed from their system.  They will probably direct you to someone else who can assist you.  They are very nice people and work very hard to help out people who have defaulted on their student loans.  They are not scumbags, or d-bags, or any other profane name you can come up with.  They are a legitimate company who's sole purpose is to assist people in financial trouble.

any profane name i could come up with would barely scratch the surface of describing how horrible anyone would have to be to work for TG. these people are the worst.

Getting calls from this number but nobody speaks when I answer the phone. If this does have to do with student loans, I  don't have any.
I wish they'd quit calling.

Got a call from them today.  Didn't have a pen when they said the number (it was a recording)... I assumed they'd repeat it, but they didn't.  Had to get it off of caller ID to call back.

After navigating thru their menu, the voice prompt asked me to enter my SSN.  I had no idea who this company is, so there was no way I was doing that.  After 3 times of hearing, "Invalid response", I finally got an operator.

She was looking for somebody who was not me, and did not live here (and she ascertained this by asking what phone # was called... *not* by asking me for my SSN).  She was perfectly pleasant and said she'd remove my number from the system.

Don't have any issues with the company itself... either somebody gave a wrong #, or we inherited somebody's old #.  They're just doing their job, and the person I spoke with was nice enough.

But they could make it a little bit easier to get back in touch with them and talk to a person (e.g. repeat the # I'm supposed to call back... give me a "press 0 to talk to an operator" instead of asking up front that I put in my SSN, etc.

Chris @ TG. They do not call me on my personal phone. Instead, they insist on calling me at work. I hate bill collectors. I know this is my fault in all. But, I had a baby, and I just do not have time right now to finish my degree. :( Really regretting getting student loans now.

They keep calling looking for my niece who does not live with me and I'm tired of getting this calls.  I have passed on the messages but am she does not call them I can not help them now they calling talking about have her call it’s about a job offer now they have resort to lying.

Let's get the story straight. If you don't want collection calls, then pay your bills. It's that easy. If you don't want to pay the loans, don't get them in the first place. Also, these people that default on their loans get at least three years of forbearance to postpone their payments. No sympathy whatsoever. Then they want to be a burden on the taxpayer by having the government pay for their education whether they graduated or not. Thank God they can garnish wages, take tax refunds, and even lottery winnings! Federal student loans aren't charity. C'mon now.

That doesnt mean that someone couldnt have taken out a student loan in ur name or used a fake phone number either way just call them back and find out what the deal is, better safe than sorry, right?

They called me today to pull my Student Loans out of default. My husband and I were on the verge of losing our tax refund because of the student loans i have, but they really will try to work with you and aren't rude. If they call you and you want them to stop or you arent the right person, all you have to do is tell them that.

So be sure you have facts straight please. First, you don't get three years of forbearance to postpone your loans, 3-6 months only of grace period after leaving school and not everyone in repayment qualifies for forbearance.  Just because you ask for forbearance doesn't mean you will get it. Second, Just because some one takes out students loans doesn't mean they are TRYING to a burden to the tax payers. Third, as you pointed out, the government will get their money, even if the person tries not to pay. Fourth, loans get sold and some lenders don't communicate well with borrowers and payments get missed. That doesn't mean non-payment is intentional or that some is TRYING to not pay. Most lenders will work with the borrowers. Please don't ever gloat or go on a tirade over some else mistakes or misfortune.  You never know when you could end up in a similar situation.
