- Great Lakes borrower replies to MattCould very well be the number that whoever had that number before you gave them as their contact number.
I get calls from these numbers a lot, but I do have seriously overdue loans through Great Lakes, so while it's annoying, I can't really complain too much. I've never had them call and not speak English or anything, though. Still have all the numbers saved in my cell, and that contact set to go straight to voicemail. Only have to deal with it when they call the landline. (Oh, yeah, that's another thing - especially if you're not responding, they will call any and every number they can possibly have for you. They used to call my daughter's cell somehow, until I had her answer it and tell them that she was a child and didn't know whoever they were calling for) - ren 82 replies to JTHyep same here there looking for my neighbor im like dont call me looking for my neighbor
- Anonymous| 1 replyThis is Great Lakes Education. If you call them back they want your social security # & your mailing address. They are a collection agency. I called them back today & asked they stop calling me as all of my student loans have been consolidated. They refused to tell me anything or take me off their call list b/c I wouldn't give them my mailing address. I told them I would just block every # they call me from.
- Caller: Great Lakes Collection service
- Call type: Debt collector
- BigA replies to AnonymousA cease and desist calling should always be made by certified, return receipt letter. That way when they keep calling you have proof for your FDCPA lawsuit and you get them to pay you big bucks (maybe even enough to pay that loan off).

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

- MS FloThey did not leave a message. I did not recognize this number nor did it have a registered ID. I get these several times a day but no messages are left. Do not give them any personal information. As a public servant, the names and information was compromised several years ago so many people have their information from one of the Credit Bureaus that are supposed to maintain Personal Information (PII). Beware of calls that are not identified.
