This is from another toll-free number that left a message about lowering interest rates on an unmentioned account.  Called today at 12:16 p.m.  The same message was left  on my recorder by 800-847-2900 at 12:39 p.m. on December 29th.  These people are digging for personal information...or much worse.  Being on the "do not call" list has no effect on unscrupulous people!

Quit calling!!!

I have gotten several calls from this number for almost 2 months. this time I wanted to talk to a real person so I hit number 1. After being left on hold for over 8 minutes and being hung up on . I called the 800 number back which does go to the real principal financal group. I was told by a rep there that someone is using their phone number illegally and that their security is looking into it. I guess they only found out about this about a week ago but I told the lady it has been going on longer than that.  not 10 minutes later I get a call back from the scam people and get to talk to a real person. the call was filled with static and the man was hard to understand.  I guess he could not understand me due to the bad connection either because we kept asking the other to repeat what was said. He finally said , did you say you do not have a credit card? (see this helps prove it was a scam as that is the info he wanted most). I said no I did not say one way or another if I had a Credit card, I asked him why they keep calling me when I had hit 2 ( an option they give you) to stop their calls. I also told him I had spoken to the real Principal people who also said this was a scam. next thing I heard was the dail tone! ;)

I received a call from this number and when I answered it sounded like I was the one making the call.

Google "do not call registry complaint" and fill out form.They keep a registry of the complaints, and if enough people fill out this form and complain. It would indicate a real problem with this phone number. Ultimately, it could lead to an investigation and law enforcement action taken  against them according to the site.
