In all honesty.....people "assuming" they know why they are calling shouldn't be posting here.  If you did receive a call and did answer it and can actually provide accurate details then leave your findings here. Ticks me off when people try to guess what the call is all about.

Well it is a legitimate number from CIBC. However I would highly dispute the comments about it being "professional".  In two days I got no less than 13 calls. This was right after I had realized that I had missed ONE payment on my CC.  I called the bank to advise them that I had moved, give new address and new phone number, and that I was aware I was late and would make a payment on Friday.  As soon as they got the new number the calls started the very next day. No messages, just calls from 1-800 number and eventually very late in the evening on the first day a message saying "CIBC, important that you call us back".   And then the calls started again immediately the next day - don't even give you a chance to call back!  This is absolute harassment. This is not a collection agency, it is a department set up by CIBC to harass people.

GRosely dishonest... everything is paid... furthermore they call me and I have to confirm, BS tell me what is up. After I confirmed everything, their information/reason for calling was WRONG and they accused me.

I will clear this with CIBC and going to go with Scotia, I deal with Scotia once in 1992, for something I forget what, The ladies was uber sweet. I am through with this.

Folks, how to convince a person with all those [***] lies? Tell the lie that cannot be distinguished from truth; eliminate the all doubts & evidences that will likely find their way out.   I'm pretty sure that some of the scammers posted positive comments in here.

In my case definitely CIBC and not a scam... I forgot to make my monthly minimum and they called. Without realizing who the number was, I paid my minimum (through an online payment from my account at a different bank) and they stopped calling. Unfortunately for them there's too many unsolicited calls these days so I never answer any numbers I don't recognize. If they'd just leave a message or identify themselves on call display as "CIBC" instead of just the phone number, we could have resolved my missed payment much earlier.

I have an answering machine for a reason. Leave a message and I'll call back. I do not answer calls that say unknown on the display.

Someone should let CIBC know - if this is them calling then use some common courtesy - if the display showed as CIBC they would probably get people answering the phone -  I do not answer calls whose number shows up as 1-800, or unknown name or number. That's what answering machines are for, leave a message. How ignorant and a waste of time to continually phone people day after day. I'd be unplugging my home phone if I continuously received calls from an unknown number, besides I do all my business on my cell phone anyway. The only reason I have a home land line is because it is bundled in with my internet and tv.

It is CIBC VIsa collections department calling day and night 20 times or more with an automated dialing machine. It is because you are most likely have missed, are behind, or haven't paid your full VIsa payment for the month. I have had trouble recently and got behind on a monthly payment, and now my phone rings constantly through the day, and they won't stop until the billl is up to date.
Talking to a collector is debateable as to whether it is productive or not, as they will usually try to entrap you into a verbal contract as to when and how much you plan to pay. The best thing to do is to bring your bill up to date ASAP, but don't make any verbal agreements.

CIBC number, keeps calling even after I talked with a representative about my accounts just a few hours earlier. It seems that they just keep dialing no matter what. Automated voice goes on, then simply ends the call. Pretty unprofessional for a bank like CIBC.

I just called CIBC telephone banking (the number on the back of my card) to confirm that the number is actually them. Totally legit.

If you call telephone banking they can direct you to where you need to be to sort your account out with CIBC.

Damn, this was funny!  CIBC calling (4 times in a row) over a payment a wk late.  I had just paid full-minimum owing at branch earlier today.  Snotty lass on the phone indicated that she no longer had access to account, and I was to contact cbv at 855-788-4039.  I did try cbv, however they are closed now.

I didn't even discuss that they had disconnected my account for a >1wk late payment.  Heck, the lass I was speaking with refused to talk to me, indicating I had to call agency as "It is urgent".  This is weird, in the sense that I've never been late on this account, and they are now in PANIC mode.

This has to be someone spoofing the CIBC number. I don't do any business whatsoever with CIBC. They have no reason to call me.
