Received postcard from "Delivery Services" addressed to my adult son who hasn't lived with me for 8yrs. Postcard says call this phone# to "schedule or advise" & key in a reference# when prompted. It also said "we are trying to contact you, but are unable for one of the following reasons: restricted or insured, requires a signature, unable to use PO box, no one available. There are also pictures of delivery or mail trucks, & "we are trying to reach you", "please call us to reschedule" & "professional & fast" on the card. No company name. Must be a scam or bill collector. My son lives over a thousand miles away, he wouldn't have anything delivered here

I got the same thing. What is this? should I be worried?

I received a post card that said "Unclaimed Property Message Notification" on the front and back and "AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE HAS BEEN LEFT FOR YOU" with the toll free number 1-800-261-7621 on it followed by a personal I.D. code.  It is post marked Denver, Colorado.

I checked my state's unclaimed property website and there is nothing for me and I lived in no other state. I think this is a debt collection agency or some kind of scam. I did not call the number.

Its a scam. Do NOT call the number on the card as your phone number will be recorded and probably resold to telemarketers. Follow the old rule: If the correspondence doesnt identify who they are, DO NOT interact with them in any way. Put the post card in the paper shredder and be done with it. Stay safe and scam free everyone

I received the same postcard in the mail with the same kind of message. I don`t even need to call the number since this has SCAM written all over it. I`ve also been getting random calls from unrecognized numbers which I refuse to answer.  It`s tax season again and these robbers are looking for the next schmuck. Keep your private information to yourselves folks.

Got a post card "unclaimed property" from Denver, co. Jerks . Not calling

I received a blue post card addressed to my maiden name that I haven't used in 12 years. Says "US Government Unclaimed Property Message Notification an important message has been left for you call toll free 1-800-261-7624 to access the message please enter the following ID your message can be retrieved 24 hours a day."
I looked at the government's unclaimed property listings and there is nothing. Didn't call because I Googled the number and this page showed up!

Its bill collectors being sneaky and trying to confirm working phone numbers. U.S. Dept of Education hires these goons for unpaid school loans. If you call the number, you wont get to talk to a person, it merely matches the confirmation number you dial in, then it locks your phone number in using something called ANI that toll free numbers have. Then you will never stop receiving calls from these parasites. Tear the card up and throw it away.

???  US Dept of Education?  How does that hiring work again?  You realize what you wrote makes no sense at all.  This is no doubt a scam, but it is a garden variety bait and switch, nothing to do with school loans.
I do have a line on some tin foil for great price if you are interested in that.

Since you seem to be so insistent about it, how about providing us some proof of your statement?  You obviously have done a lot of research on this subject in order to be so knowledgeable about it, so share with us some of your sources so that we can become as smart as you are.

If you read the post again you'd realise B-Edwards isn't defending these bill collectors and quite clearly states it is a scam.

You seem to have problems with comprehending "This is no doubt a scam...".  How that defends bill collectors is a mystery to me.
I was hoping  you would expand on the U.S. Dept. of Education connection, the locking in and the matching and something called the ANI that toll free numbers have.  Since just about every other person was posting about getting mail concerning "Unclaimed Property", your post seemed out of touch with the tend of the thread.  Say "Hi" to your Dad for me.  Can I get an autograph?  Frankly, he is one of my favorite Franks!  :)

Did a bit of digging. The organization behind these postcards is Odney advertising. I suggest you give them a call at their real phone number and let them know how you feel about this. The number is 701-222-8721
