Lady named Wayne claimed to need security digits off of my Visa to fulfill reward of free gas & oil changes.  When told that I didn't have the Visa card, she explained that the code off of any of my cards would work, which meant they had the card #'s for more than just my Visa.  Claimed she was with Automotive Advantage on Shadeland Avenue here in Indianapolis.  SCAM!!!

Receiving "silent" calls from this number.

We received a call exactly the same as that describe by IndyTom. The "representative" claimed that due to a recent purchase (which they could not identify because of privacy) using our Capital One Visa had entered us in a sweepstakes and we had won free gas & an oil change. They asked us to verify the first four digits and of the card starting with a 4. When we questioned this, he added that nothing we tell him would be new because he had all of our information in front of him. Problem #1 - we don't have a Capital One. Problem #2 - none of our Visa's start with a 4.

The "supervisor" that came on the call could tell us nothing more specific due to privacy issues.

Sounds like a scam. Hang up if they call.

Several calls from this number.  Most are silent.  Last was Automotive Advantage.  Thanks to information on this website - I hung up.

Received call from lady stating she was with Automotive Advantage, stating that because of a recent purchase, we were eligible to receive $50.00 in free gas and oil changes.  I didn't mind confirming address, but then she read off last four of my credit card, stating it was from the purchase record.  THEN she asked for the rest of the number!!!  When I questioned this, she stated "it's okay, when I enter it the number will just appear as stars on my screen".  Yeah, right.  I told her to take me off her sucker list and hung up.

Received silent call from this number on Dec 4 and Dec 6.

We just received this call.  They asked for my husband and told him that he won free gas, oil change and a $500 shopping spree.  They just needed him to verify his visa number.  My husband said- I'll tell you what, you tell me my visa number and we'll go from there.  Of course, they said they couldn't do that for "privacy issues."  My husband continued asking him why he needed all this info, etc. the guy hung up.  They also claimed to be from Automotive Advantage Club.

Called me yesterday, 1-23-08. No recording. A live agent(woman) answered. They called me just as I was about to leave the house. After saying hello, and asking if this was another car warranty call. The woman immediately said oh no, and wanted my MC/Visa numbers. Said if I give "them" my credit card info that I could get discounts on gas and someother nonsense. I told her I don't use credit cards(I truly don't). Then gave me an option of using a debit/check cashing card. I told her I don't have one of them either(dont have a checking/savings account). Then I think she may have huffed and puffed before hanging up. It's not my fault if they didn't get any money from me.

Rec'd call at lunch from woman stating she was with Automotive Advantage.  She said that my husband and I have just been selected to recieve $100.00 in free gas and 4 free oil changes from our Visa card.  I asked her the catch, she replied "a few minutes of your time."  She verified my address and told me that she would need to verify the last four digits on my Visa Card.  I asked her which credit card company she represented and she said she was not with a credit card co. Told her I didn't give that information over the phone that if she wanted to send me info on credit card letter head through the mail she could.  She told me that anyone could claim to be me and the she had the entire number in her system.  Told her that I was not giving her any numbers that if she was in fact with a "credit card" institution that she would not be asking these questions and she would be able to verify my identity with other questions than my card number.  She hung up on me.  Just like posted....#1 my husband and I don't have joint Visa account, #2 my Visa does not start with 4,#3 My card company would never ask for this information, and lastly WHOEVER HEARD OF A CREDIT CARD COMPANY GIVING AWAY SOMETHING FOR FREE??????????

Some lady with a hard to understand Indian accent called telling me I was entitled to free gifts because I had a credit card. $100 or $500 or something. She just needed the expiration date. After getting the name of the company, Automotive Advantage Club, and a phone #, 866-801-9129, I googled it and got their website, http://automotiveadvantageclub.com/ It says it's under construction. I mentioned it too her, but she said it worked on her computer.

She was really persistent on getting the expiration date. I asked which card. Didn't matter to her. I asked if she was calling from India? Said Tampa, Fl. I asked if the State Attroney General of Florida was investigating them. She ignored those questions. I asked if it was a scam. Didn't phase her. Finally I gave her a made up expiration date. Then she wanted to verify my address. I kept asking about the website. It's mostly just a shell. No real info other than the 866-81-9129 phone #.

Then just to make sure I had a real valid credit card, so I could get the free gifts she wanted the 16 digit #. Not the security numbers on the back, just the 16 digit # she assured me. About then the phone started fading in and out, going silent for a few seconds. I couldn't figure out what that was about so I just hung up. Believe it or not, she called back about 5 mins. later. I just immediately hung up.

What I don't get, with the government tapping the phones for so called "terrorism", why can't they stop these crooks and put them in jail. How hard could it be. At least the auto warranty calls have finally stopped. Thank god. I was getting 3-5 a day.

If you get a call from these jokers, report it to the IN State Atty general.  I reported them and they are under investigation.  Oh yeah if you're on the do not call list.....They will recieve fines per call!!!!
