11-16-10  We too have received solicitation from this company, School District Publishing, PO Box 489, Reisel, TX 76682.  I am unable to find them in the Sec. of State of Texas as a legit business.  They have come down to $295 for the 16th page ad for us.  The USPS in Reisel confirmed that the po box is registered to that company.  The woman I spoke to (Heather Borden) does not have any kind of accent.  I am going to request an IRS W9 and see what happens.

Ok, so the person I am talking with is located in NY.  I asked if they were registered in NY and got a vague uhh yeah answer.  When I requested a W9 I was told that I would get one once I commit to an ad.  I explained that I needed to confirm they are legit before I could commit and her response was oh okay.  She did not offer any reassurances.  State of NY deos not have them registered either.

i actually bought an ad, since we do quite a bit of buisness with our local school district.
never recieved copy of the ad, but sure did get the invoice.
this has been going on since 2008, THEM, trying to have me pay for a service not provided.

We do a lot of work for school districts and they call misrepresenting the ad....we called the schools we work for and they have never heard of them.....the first year we paid it thinking we were doing something that benefitted the school district, the second year I actually read the invoice and they in small print state they are not in anyway affiliated. We refuse to pay and they keep sending invoices and calling its been over a year. PLEASE do not place an ad with them if you think its for the school your working or hope to work for they final sent us a catalog with our ad in it, anyone can make a book with ads in it? The point is they misrepresented themselves and what the ad was for.

YES BEWARE!.....They have the guts to actually call for $$ even after you tell them you know they are a scam!

They're a start-up Delaware for Profit Corporation.  When asked how much money goes to the school district or who receives a copy of the publication they were unable to answer.  From my experience, somebody's making money, but it's not any school.

Very pushy.  Not sure of the validity.  The caller said he was from tow different school districts on two different days.

Our company received a phone call from these clowns stating they partner with the Chicago Public Schools... Be aware!

I am an ex employee of this company and would love to explain to you guys what is going on. I worked in the NY office. The company goes by many names based on what type of products they sell. For pro sports they go by professional sports publications, for college sports they go by university sports publications, for military directories they go by military publishing, for school districts they go by school district publishing, and for municipal guides, they go by municipal publishing. The company gives sales people leads with no info filled out and the sales persons job is to find out who the owner is and pitch them. In order to find out who owner is, many times, the sales person tells the secretaries/employees of the companies that they are calling that they are directly from the university/school district/etc and that they are updating contacts. For professional sports publications and university sports publications, this company has a direct contract from the teams to put out their publications so it is sorta legit. But for the school districts and municipal guides they have no affiliation with them and DO NOT actually send these guides to the various administrators that they say will be seeing your ad.

All of these posts are right on target.  Best avenue is to contact the Attorney General's office in you state and report them and what they are doing.

We have been solicited by them as well. I called their number and no answer. I cannot find the website.

They called our business after supposedly being in a local Beaverton School and being told we do printing for them. They told my salesman that they were from Oregon School District publishing, and that they provide a book to all of the Oregon schools, district offices and administrators as a one stop shopping guide, and that the people in the book are who the schools are using for printing. This is where I became suspicious, first my company isn't in the book, and has been printing for the district for YEARS... and there is NO collaborative anything between school districts in the state for them to share information, let alone a requirement to order from anyone.. now they are pitching that they are building an online directory, and selling a 1/16 page color ad (they actually pitch the fact that it's color.. it's the internet for crying out loud). He asked them to send over information for my review which is how I came across their real name of "School District Publishing" out of Texas... what are the odds that anyone from Texas was here talking to anyone in my local district office... slim. After googling the company and reading the complaints, it is yet another scam like the companys that put your logo on a schools sports calendar that never gets published either....

We have been constantly harassed by a salesman named Jeff who calls on behalf of this company. I am the Office Manager for a small family owned business and I screen every call before patching through to any of my Executives. This guy just doesn't take no for an answer. I asked what company he was with, he claimed to be with a school district we do a lot of work with. I knew he was lying because he was asking for someone who doesn't even work in our school department and when I put him through to the General Manager of School jobs, he refused to talk to him! He would only talk to the owner. So, after two calls a day from this guy for about three months (he eventually just started hanging up on me when I answered), we finally put him through to the owner, who told him he needed to talk to his wife (the majority owner). The only way I was finally able to get rid of this guy was to lie to him and say I am the owner. He finally told me the name of his company, who just happens to be someone we have done business with in the past! School district Publishing was double charging us for an add we never saw in a school flyer of some kind. When I discovered this I requested to cancel the add and told them to stop calling us. This was over a year ago. These guys need to be reported or put out of business. They are the most rude set of people I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with!

got call yesterday about trying to get my firm to pay for a full page color ad in the internet for some school district i haven't heard of.  She claimed to be from the school district and was the Superintendent's assistant calling people.   We are in Iowa and the Schools were in New York.  What a bunch of balcony this girl was trying to sell.   The caller ID say 216-741-0275  but she gave a number of 800-272-4941 if we had any questions.

a lady called and asked for *********** who is a PM for our Firm.  Claims to be from a school and needing to speak to him about placing an ad in some publication I have not heard of.

don't call our place again !  We do custodial cleaning for schools, we don't want to donate any more money.
