    It's Definitely A Fraud
This call came in on my Google Voice number which I have never given out to anyone. I called 1-800-PROGRESSIVE to validate this call and they told me they don't have a collections department and don't even have my number (real or Google Voice) in their system at all.

    It's a scam.

I live in Canada so I'm definitely not a Progressive customer. Why are they calling me?

Just called me. Woke my baby up. I answered with the baby crying into the phone. They hung up.

    Oh well.

thank you for the preceding individual and their commentary below. For your kind wisdom in reminding us all that the one in a million insurance carrier refuses to identify themselves as an insurance company. 800-274-4041
from United States, is what I learned when I researched the comments on 411.com; AMAZING...Perhaps the FTC, FCC is able to provide assistance in this matter. It has been a problem for quite some time. Have a great MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND.

Had 3 missed calls from this number today.  Called them back, and it was an automated message from Progressive.  Pressed 3 to speak to a representative, had my number removed, since I don't have insurance with them.  Someone apparently put the wrong number to an account.

I cancelled with them, they refused to put through a request, just said that when my bill wasn't paid they would cancel.  Now I'm getting collection calls on a policy I have cancelled.

Progressive required a colleague to euthanize his puppy before they would offer home insurance.  They didn't offer to add a rider, increase the cost, just requested a certificate of euthanization before they would write a policy.  They lost his three vehicles, his two motorcycles and his new home.  In addition to my business and several friends of mine.

For some of you saying it's because you didn't pay your bill, I paid in a lump sum and still get calls from them.

Are you people scared, or what?  It's your phone and you can hang up on anybody at anytime if you so choose. I called the number back, and it IS Progressive reminding me that my auto insurance policy will cancel on Monday if the payment isn't received by Sunday at midnight.  He was very nice, and we even chatted for a minute.

Maryland fines you big time if you don't have insurance; the carrier notifies the state immediately when your policy is cancelled, then they send you a nice big fine that continues to increase the longer you go without coverage.  Doesn't matter if you are driving the vehicle or not.  Happened to me personally over owing USAA something like $12 years ago; they cancelled my policy and within a week I got fined!

I'm not sure what state they are in either, BUT just people know in Ohio they will do a "random" inquiry based on registered vehicles. They will send you a notice in the mail stating that you have so many days to send in confirmation from your insurance company showing coverage on a specified date. If you didnt have coverage at that time you can lose your licence and pay a fine.

They call my cell phone but the never leave a message. If it is Progressive, than they need to leave me alone. I called to have my policy cancelled about two months ago. They told me alright, we will just turn off you auto deposit and there was that. Leave me alone, please.

Have you not read the replies on here? Do you work for Progressive? They call people who have ALREADY PAID weeks ago, or who have autopay on and have for months or years, and people who aren't even customers.
