- JJ| 5 repliesThey called my cell with a phone number of "0" and said they were a company named Techsupport365 out of Texas, USA would not give the city and reported that my computer has been hacked over 500 times, I don't have a personal computer. He said I can call to verify at 1-800-299-4065 ext. 1029 and the guys name was Advert with an Indian accent.
- Caller: Advert
- AnnieGot a call from "Windows Technical Support." Figured it was a scam. Asked for callback number and they gave me this one and added I should ask for James at extension 1033. They said my computer reported a technical security error.
- Caller: Windows Technical Support
- KO replies to JJ| 3 repliesI just received a call from this phone number saying the same thing. When I told them I didn't know that they were from Windows they gave me this number and ext 1012 the gal says her name was Laura Hudson but she had an Indian Accent.
- BigA replies to KO| 2 repliesThey are not from "Windows" which is not the name of the company but the operating system name. This is a well publicized scam to get into your computer, steal your information and money, and to install spyware or worse on your computer for heaven's knows what else. I hope you did not go to the website they told you to go to, or allowed them access to your computer.
- Reg BruceI received a call from these people as well. I did not allow access but asked for a callback number and received this 1 (800) 299-4065 and was told that I should call back and talk to Anna
February 15, 2017- Caller: Anna
- kimI got the same call many many many times and they wanted me to get into my operating system run file and I did not. I got off the phone and asked for a call back number to verify who they are. They said they are the windows technical department...NOT
- Caller: tech365
- GordCalled to tell my 80 yr old mom her computer was in deep trouble, pay now over the phone and they can fix it for her. Asked if she's drunk too. Quality scammers...not. lol!!
- RandalAlso got the call from "windows technical service" on March 17 - hackers are stealing all my personal data. More convincing than some scams I've encountered. I can see where it could fool some people.
- MarkGot a call from "1" and a gentleman with a very heavy Indian accent said I needed to run event viewer on my computer and go to some website to download something. Of course, since I knew already that this was some kind of scam, I played around with him for a good twenty minutes. I figure if you're going to waste my time, I can waste yours too, no?
He originally said he was from Microsoft until I asked for his email address. He gave me "support@microsoft.com"...I told him I was going to email him directly what my computer screen was showing and he said he couldn't give me his email address. He gave me this phone number to call (800-299-4065) and wouldn't give me his name at first, then said he was "James Hammond"...he seemed offended when I told him that that didn't sound like an Indian name. When I asked him again for his email or for what company he worked for, he hung up.
I called back and a nice guy (same accent) called and said that they were "TechSupport365" out of Fort Worth, Texas. I told him I used to live there and he said they were on "Whatway Street"...the heck is that? He said they were getting some notifications that hackers were in my computer stealing my info. I inquired a little more as to what kind of notifications they were getting, and I asked what this "Supremo" thing was (that the first guy mentioned). He said it was some remote service for them to see what is going on in my computer. I asked him what kind of notifications again and he plainly said, "sir, if you want it, you can have it, but if you don't want you can just hang up the call." I laughed and I told him, "sir, this sounds like a scam so how about you go scam someone else; have a great day."
If you can't even call me from a reputable number, how can I take you seriously? Furthermore, how can anyone else be this gullible? Sad.
People...if people are double-talking to confuse you, hang up. No computer company will EVER call you or email you to tell you that they see you have issues with your computer. If someone random calls or emails you and tells you you need to download something, it is MOST LIKELY NOT LEGITIMATE!
I have plenty of time to play with these people so let the calls keep coming!- Caller: TechSupport365

- JulieI received a call from an "unknown" number, saying my computer was spreading viruses. I assumed it was a hack - I asked him to tell me my name (he didn't know it), the kind of computer I had (no clue). I told him he was full of $h!t, a scammer - I could barely understand what he was telling me. I said I didn't have a computer, he said I needed to get in front of it & he would wait. And if I only have a tablet? I got his phone number, looked it up while I was on the phone - saw this. Called him a scammer, called him slime. I hope people don't fall for this...

- Vera replies to JJThey called 10 times withing one hour. Introduced as Windows technical support and reported that my computer was hacked. Asking to give access to my computer to fix the issue. He said I can call to verify at 1-800-299-4065 ext. 1007 and his name Steven Wilson with Indian accent. 25/05/2017
- JohnI just received a similar call saying I needed tech support. Caller had an Indian accent and said he was calling from Texas. I told him I would call my support team at HP. I get these all the time. Either they are totally random calling or someone is giving them information. Sometimes I tell them different things, it depends on how busy I am. They are scammers of course. No one from Microsoft will call you, and no one from any other computer support team will call you either. Well, maybe the geek squad will but that is only to get you to pay for a renewal of non-support.

- VickiJust hung up from an unknown caller. Said his name was Brian. Same scam as the others have written about. He got very angry with me when I wouldn't comply said my computer was vulnerable to hackers if I didn't work with him. I said hackers like you and he said yes like me. After I asked him for a call back number to verify who he was 1-800-299-4065 I had to hang up on him as he ranted at me.
- Caller: Microsoft Tech support
- KenJust had call from Anonymous. Caller with thick Indian accent indicated that our computer had been reporting many attempts to access information remotely. He was asked about the keyboard layout and was concerned when I said we had an old keyboard without the Windows key. Had a good laugh listening to his response to that. After a few minutes I hung up. He called back several times and when I finally answered he was confrontational and concerned over the dropped call, asking for another line to call on. I told him the only available phone was failing and he gave me a number to call; 1-800-299-4065 ext 1015. He is with TechSupport 365 in Fort Worth Texas.

Thanks to Slim, another registered poster here and computer whiz:
Since the scammers accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
• Disabled the anti-virus software
• Added nasty malware to the computer
• Copied the Contact List (so they can spam/email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
• Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
• Compromised your ID on Facebook or other social site(s), and perhaps on shopping sites.
• "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
• Deleted some important files
• Asked for money to repair the damage they caused
What can you do immediately after such an attack?
1. Pull the cables on the computer, or otherwise disable it, so it cannot access the internet.
2. Change ALL passwords stored on the computer.
3. Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
4. Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything.
5. Inform your bank and credit card companies.
6. Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
7. Backup non-executable personal, data files to an external storage device. (Executable files might be infected).
8. You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
9. Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you.
10. Connect to the internet only AFTER all the above have been done.
11. Change the passwords on all online accounts. Even better - access a "safe", uninfected computer, and change your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.
NOTE:
If your computer set a "Restore Point" while it was infected, any "System Restore" you make will re-infect your computer. Suggest you delete any potentially infected restore points and avoid setting such restore points until after your computer has been thoroughly cleaned!
You fell for one scam, and might be susceptible to others mentioned on this site:

Read that info to educate and help protect yourself!
Honest computer companies do NOT cold-call people, or cause popups from websites to tell them their computers need fixing!
Some scammers even have websites, and falsely advertise they are associated with popular software packages or computer companies; so do NOT believe a "we will fix your computer remotely" site, and allow them access to your computer!

If your computer needs fixing, bring it to a local repair shop - PatCaller said he was from window and my computer was illegally accessing IP numbers. Wanted me to go to my computer and follow his instructions. I played dumb and wasted about ten minutes of his time.
