- Barbara| 6 repliesSays her name is Dorothy Chapman and she is calling from our electric company, which is Eversource, to lower your rates. I don't know if it's true or not.
- Caller: Eversource???
- MJG replies to BarbaraWhy not contact your supplier using a number on your bill? I doubt it is really Eversource since third parties have been calling trying to get you to change suppliers.
- CPSI, too, received a call from a Dorothy Chapman with the same message Barbara received approx. 45 minutes ago.
- David SadlerSame thing a call and voice message from Dorothy Chapman. I called EXCEL our electric company and they didn't know anything .I'd love to hear what the deal is. Probably some kind of energy product - solar panels mayb. Can ayone tell me what they are offering?
- Caller: Dorothy Chapman
- gretchenIt's not eversource since she said she was from my elec and I don't have eversource. i assume scam as my rate is locked so they can't be overcharging me.
- lizzie replies to BarbaraIt's not eversource. They are trying to figure out who it is. Don't answer the phone if you don't recognize the #. The phone co would not ask you for your account # or billing info. They already have it.

- EricJust received the same call from Dorothy Chapman, doesn't seem legit if it's from eversource.
- JAFI received the same call. Dorothy Chapman left a message. If she was really from Eversource, she would not ask to have a copy of the bill upon my return call. She did ask for it.
- Caller: Dorothy Chapman
- AWGCall from a dorothy chapman trying to obtain my electic service account number ; asked me to have my bill ready. Turned out she was intending to swicth my generation service to sparks energy co. .
- Caller: OF SPARKS ENERGY
- meljust got this call. i'm sure it's a 3rd party supplier trying to get you to switch to get a cheaper generation rate. nothing wrong with switching, but google "compare energy suppliers" and read the contract terms and fine print. good old dorothy doesn't know we have solar panels and generate all of our electricity ourselves. BTW, sparks energy is 8.2 cents/KWh, one of the most expensive when you compare.

- Sickofidiots replies to Barbara| 1 replyNo, she is not from eversource, but the message she left sure made it sound like she was from eversource. This was what I consider a bait and switch call. The message that she left said that she was calling regarding our generation rate and we were eligible for a State choice program to lower our rate. She gave a reference number and stated that when I call I should have my Eversource bill with the account number available. I called the number back, and spoke with a woman. I asked her what the name of their company was, since she did not state it when she answered. It is Spark energy. I toId her I received a call from Dorothy chapman, did not give the reference number, but asked what their going rate was. She told me .819 cents a kilowatt. I asked why I would even change to them when they are 2 cents higher than what Eversource's going rate is. Because of this tactic where they want you to have your bill ready, I believe this is one of those calls an elderly person needs to be wary of as it would appear that since they are in possession of your account, they can now switch your supplier. Please warn your elderly parents about this tactic. This happened to my mother. She was told if she switched to another company that required a 50$ enrollment fee, she would receive the $50 back within 6 months of billing. Sounds good, right? The only problem was their rate was 4 cents higher than Eversource, so they were ripping her off. When I asked her why she didn't check what the going rate was, she replied that this company kept calling her, so they must have had a good rate.
- PEHI, too, got a phone message from someone who said it was Dorothy Chapman. She said I was eligible for the CHOICE program, which would reduce my electric rates. She left this telephone number and also left me a reference number,
- Caller: She didn't say which company she was from.

In December 2015, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Spark Energy (a supplier of electricity and natural gas) for allegedly engaging in a deceptive bait-and-switch scheme. According to the complaint, the company promises customers who switch from their local utilities to Spark will save on their monthly energy bill and pay competitive variable rates based on market rates when, in reality, the company routinely increases its rates after customers switch and, as a result, customers pay up to four times more for natural gas than they would have with another supplier. - k.adamsDorothy chapman re state choice program to lower my generation rate.
- Pat replies to BarbaraIt's a scam...she never says electric company name...just we can lower your rate and call with your account number...don't answer and don't call back...
- Wendy replies to SickofidiotsI get these message a couple of times a week I know they are not from Eversource so I finally decided to call back to see just what it was all about. They want you to change to some other company for your power generation at a higher rate I might add. So don't fall for this nonsense.

The do not disturb light is on !!! - ReneeSCAM. Carol Walsh left me a message. I phoned back, very unprofessional male answered the phone with the supervisor walking him thru in the background. The scary thing is they had all of my info from Ever source. After I told them it sounded like a scam, the supervisor came on the phone and started to ,question my intelligence. That is when I hung up and contacted the BBB. LESSON LEARNED HERE. LOOK UP TELEPHONE NUMBERS BEFORE YOU CALL BACK.
