Legit call for me. My bank's cardmember services fraud prevention team, contacting me over a purchase I'd made that looked suspicious to them. In my case, I (a man) had bought the item in question (a woman's dress) as a gift for a friend. Because I'd never bought anything like that, they blocked the charge and contacted me.

Why did you look up the number if you know who called you? Do you often look up known numbers?

It was NOT a known number for me. This was a toll free call. The message they left said it was a fraud alert call for Elan Financial Services (they handle Citi Bank credit cards). I was not about to call back a possible fraud scam toll free number, so I called Elan directly myself. It WAS a legitimate fraud alert. A charge had been made to my account.

Okay, so did you look the number up before you called Elan or after? Because if it was after, my question to Lynn applies to you: why would you look up a known number?

Umm, no, they don't handle Citibank credit cards, I believe they are an offshoot of US Bank.

Valid contact from fraud services on our Visa. I didn't answer but did contact the card's customer service using the phone number on my card and they confirmed they were trying to contact me. There had been fraudulent charges. We caught them and resolved them. I looked this number up because it's different from the one that I called. Same department, tho.

if you are notified of a problem with your card,

CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD

Even though the number in this thread might belong to your card issuer, the scammers can easily spoof what appears on your CallerID, and attempt to get your precious ID and card data!

Read the above again, for understanding!

    Be Safe, Not Sorry!

The Businesses name is Elan Financial, they are a sub group of US Bank and they handle over 1400 different credit card company lines like REI, Fidelity, AAA, etc. They use card member service for that reason.

For me this wasnt a fraud call.... someone did charge $900 to my visa...  They closed my card and sending a new one.  I was told there is a trend going on and I wasnt the only one this was happening to. Whomever this is, charges $1.00 twice then goes for a bigger charge.   Whew, have mercy on us all !!!
