Claiming they are calling from Verizon and checking for fraudulent activity and that they have put an operator restriction on the line.

this is the number that verizon gives you when we are protecting your landline service. I work for them and that is what the number is for us. :)

This is actually a real number. I verified with Verizon that this was indeed their number. Very helpful service!

My wife took a call requesting to talk to me about fraud situation.  I am to call the number above and ask for option 3.  Is this legitimate?  Phone number is 717-464-2129

Received a message early this morning from OUT OF AREA and I did not answer it. They did leave a message asking me to call them at this 800 number, so I did. I spoke with an operator but voiced my concern about this being a valid number, after she told me this call was to advise me of a fraud alert because two collect calls had been placed to my home from the Philippines. We have been receiving a very high rate of unidentified numbers lately, starting as early as 7:15 AM. We never answer any unidentified telephone numbers, so it is unlikely that these calls were answered by anybody in our household. Verizon did leave us with an additional fraud alert number should any charges show up on our next phone bill. That number is 800-880-3987. The 800-309-3338 number appears to be a valid Verizon number. Thank you for having our backs, Verizon.

It is Verizon fraud control. They blocked my long distance service so I called them.

Not only is it a scam, but every reply in this thread is perpetuating the scam. How do I know for sure? Simple: we got the same call, and we do not have Verizon service. Period.

The first post was made in 2009, the last post in 2013.  So who is to say that at that time they were not stating a correct fact?

This is not a scam. I work for Verizon and it is indeed the fraud floor of the Colorado office. It's pretty cool really, I help the elderly not get scammed by call back scams and such.

So how did you happen to be here just in time?  Or not in time, since the op goes back to 2013 and there is ample reason to believe this is a scam, based on the other posts.  How does your job work again?  You need to prove it out.

Perhaps you should have learned some reading comprehension.  You see gf was referring to the fact that the previous posters claimed the call was coming from Verizon and that he didn't have Verizon service.  Reading, you never know what you might learn.

Fraudulent call also.  He prefaced the toll-free # with 83, so the caller was reading from a script flubbed the script. Could not understard three words he said.

This appears to be a very clever scam. they ask for a case number on your letter when you can not produce it because it is not there, They put you on the defensive and then they require all kinds on info, they say your lines are blocked, you must call a different number to get a tec down to your place of business to unblock
