- StanHas anybody tried to book the so called "free vacation", (costing about $600), for attending the seminar?
- Not too stupid too get scammed replies to Its funnyI did sign up and had access to the site. What was demonstrated in the presentation was misrepresented. So instead of being neive and stupid and by the way gullible, read what other people experienced and learn from it. (or maybe your affiliated with the company so that is why you are being so asinine). There is evidence that this company is not legitimate. If you did your research you would know.
- Rebecca replies to DCI went to the presentation. Didn't sign up and sent in my voucher for the cruise over a month ago. I have not received my cruise tickets or info. (And can not find a number to find out what happened.) I did everything that the voucher requested. When I called MDU, they didn't have a number and when I tried to e-mail the company they have not contacted me back. So can someone tell me how is the company legit?
- Hector| 2 repliesMDU is flooding the web with free press announcements. They say that they are opening an sales office in Georgia. I might contact the State's Attorney and give them a heads up.
- LS Elgin replies to Hector| 1 replyNew sales office in Georgia? Georgia is a pretty large state. Don't you think they would mention a city or maybe even an area? Or give a phone number? The press release says for information, contact MDU in Manalapan, N.J. Is Manalapan now the "corporate" office? By the way, does it seem logical that an organization such as MDU uses AOL for their e-mail?
This gets more ridiculous on a daily basis. - Tom replies to Stan| 1 replyWe went last night and MDU was telling people that they were "overbooked" but they would give us our "gifts" just for showing up. We were given vouchers for a free cruise and airline tickets, which they said we would get certificates for if we submitted $100 for airline and $498 for cruise. As we were leaving, we saw someone come down from upstairs where they were giving the seminar and escort a couple up, even though they were "overbooked." Perhaps they think they know who the "suckers" are and turn everyone else away. I still haven't heard of anyone who actually sent in the money for "export taxes, etc." and received legitimate certificates. If anyone is out there who has, please let the rest of us know.
- BlueyzHave not seen a post since 22nd. Does anyone have any answers to the questions?
Is MDU a legitimate organization? I cannot find them listed under travel agencies or travel clubs in N.J.
Does anyone know who Vacation Clubs LLC is? Is that club part of MDU? - HectorBlueyz:
Search La Bonne Vie Travel on the WEB and the NJ Dept of Consumer affairs or Attorney General's Website. Vacation Clubs LLC is being sued by NJ for fraud. MDU seems to be a resurrected version of La Bonne Vie. - Liz replies to mikeI am so glad the people have a way to find out that this is a scam with ease . Do your homework and run as fast as you can away from this company!!!!!!!
- BlueyzHector, Thanks
Vacation Clubs LLC is Modern Destinations Unlimited. They all operate out of the same location in Manalapan. - lizzyDo not call this number they have caller ID!!! They are a scam thats all you need to know!!!

- Doubtful| 4 repliesMy husband and I attendedthis 90 min presentation Friday. Although it seemed like a good deal, we are sit on it and think before we buy people. We were told that we would not get the same offer if we came back later to sign up. Owell, I say they lost future business. As far as the free gifts (2 rt air and 8 day cruise) I sent an email to the awaywegopromotions.com....they did email me back, but did not, would not give me legit info on the restrictions and did not explain to me why we had to send in money before we know whats being offered to us. They sent me a bogus " send us your registration pkge and we will send you your travel request". I dont live to far from the office in Philly, so I am going to take a drive there and see if it even exists and will let you all know. If it is fake, I will be sure to contac EVERY news station to report this story, and to those who got ripped off, feel free to leave your contact info so the news may contact you for a story!
Thanks,

- Kate replies to Doubtful| 1 replyI did that it is a Post Office Box however I drop off there and the reservation form was sent back but still waitting to go my dates are not here the number is 877-99-GOAWAY
- doubtful replies to Katehow long ago did you send off for your stuff? could you keep us all posted when you receive your package?
- Hector| 12 repliesawaywego(with our money)promotions" address is a mailbox with Mailbox Etcetera at 1735 Market St, SuiteA-#440 in Philadelphia. I confirmed this by calling Mailbox Etcetera. It is just a stinking mailbox! There is no office at that location. I suspect that they do have a physical office at 600 Park Ave. in Manalapan. Awaywegopromotions, Modern Destinations Unlimited, La Bonne Vie Travel, Bentley Travel, Five Points Travel all have the same progenator.
- doubtful replies to Hector| 1 replyI was able to get someone on the phone, but as usual..they would not tell me anything, just to send in our money. Thats all they care about, and then they will send you a "request form" but that STILL does NOT explain what we are entitled to. Its probably a cruise around new york and Jeresy, or in which one of the cruises you can book out of NY for $220 pp all inclusive. I dont feel easy about this, so therefore I am keeping my $500 and booking a REAL cruise in March. One you can reserve on your creditcard, not cash or money order that we cannot track of.
I say dont even bother with it, its a full out scam, and its probably a good idea that we dont, because if we got ripped, My husband would be knocking someones teeth out. - MPR replies to doubtfulThe Travel Club scamers go by the name Destinations Unlimite/Sealand Travel in Alabama. I've sent in complaints to the AGO and BBB. I don't understand why the State's let these business operate. Something has to be done!

Complaint Description:
Cancellation of Travel Club Contract. High pressure sales tactics to mislead us abut travel club services. False advertisement.
ON 14 Aug 2009 my wife and I attend an presention in Gulf Shores, Al. We were offered a free vacation to attend.(Received this in the mail). We didn't do any research before we went because we were NOT going to sign up/buy and anything. The presentation (Destinations Unlimited) was for a Travel Club (SeaLand Travel) We ended up joining the club for $8593 paying by credit card. When we got home we found of that Destinations Unlimited and Sealand Travel had many complaints and law suites against them. BB rated F for Destinations Unlimited and D for SeaLand Travel. I also found out we overpaid for the service by about 8000 dollars. I called my credit company that night (14 Aug 2009)to cancel. They said I could not cancel, it was already posted. I e-mail the companies and told them I wanted to cancel. I called the companies and left messages that I wanted to cancel. On Saturday I sent the companies letters by certified mail, stating we wanted to cancel. I received an e-mail from Sealand travel say they had nothing to do with the contract, contact Destinations Unlimited. On Saturday I talked with a D.U. customer service rep.(In Colorado) he said I could not cancel because its in the contract. On Monday I received one to the letters back stating that the company had moved and the certified letter could not be delivered.(Web address in Colorado) I received the post office post card from Sealand travel that they received the cancellation letter. I haven't received the card from Destinations Unlimited in Gulf Shores.
We feel that Destinations Unlimited used high-pressure sales tactics to mislead us about the travel services.
The airline tickets , hotel accommodations, gasoline and $300 grocery coupons we were offered to attend a presentation were not free. We would have to pay $100 plus taxes and other fees. We found that the travel restrictions were so onerous that the trips are virtually impossible to schedule.
We were promised travel value for pennies on the dollar and at the lowest prices for travel however, after doing a little research we found out that other customers discovered that they could have booked the same trips for approximately the same prices. The Club promises of significant discounts on cruises, air travel, hotels and condominiums proved no better than competing travel companies' deals.
They have used various names Royal Palm Travel, Bon Voyage, Suncountry, Horizon, Beachcomber, Castaway , Infinite Vacations according to my research.
Missouri Attorney Generals web site has listed 12 complaints against Destinations Unlimited and 2 against SeaLand Travel.
Texas Attorney General has charged Infiniti Vacations for Deceptive Trade Practices
