"Urgent Business Matter"

I too got a call from them.

As usual, "out of area" came up in the name field.

No message left, just an annoying hang up and dialtone left on my machine.

Ten minutes after they called me last night, they did it again.

"please hold, please hold, please hold". The line went dead on my machine.

I blocked them after that.

Thank God for *60 caller rejection.

second call, 10 minutes later. 'urgent personal business matter' message left on my voicemail.

Since it's Aktiv Kapital that has been calling up to 4x daily (_after_ being advised they're calling a cell, and asked, then told, several times, to write paper letters instead) I suspect it's either them, or some affiliate.

It's a collection agency.  not sure which one

They've been calling me repeatedly as well. The phone roughly 3 times daily and leave hang-ups on my answering machine.

Every time they call I get dropped in their cue, and shortly after I get disconnected. I've tried calling their own number back after hours and leaving messages, but I get no response from them.

Once, and ONLY once I got a person, but was disconnected a few minutes later. But not before they were able to ask for some person they were looking for who shared my last name, but whom I don't know. It's clear to me that they're clearly trying to collect on a debt and have decided that the guy they want is at my phone number.

The worst thing: I'm on the national "do not call" list in Canada and they have no business with me, so they shouldn't even by phoning in the first place.

Judging from the details offered by other people being called by this number, I'm going to take a stab and say that these calls are from Aktiv Kapital, a London, Ontario based company which purchases bad debt from other lenders. I too have received innumerable calls from agents at all times of the day and night, all days of the week. I usually don't bother to answer because you only get an automated system asking you to hold until the call finally drops. They don't usually let the call go to voicemail, but if they do all that's ever left is either the automated message to hold or the sound of an agent typing. The worst part is that I have received mail from them outlining the reason they are trying to get in touch with me and it is about a VISA card balance that was paid in full to the original lender years ago!!

Collection agency calling to collect $50 in a 15 year old credit card debt that was paid off 10 years back.

I got a call from these "Pirates" and I waited and took it.  PLEASE READ!!!! THIS COMPANY BUYS OLD DEBTS THAT OTHER COMPANIES HAVE WRITTEN OFF AND ARE NO LONGER ON YOUR BUREAU.  Check on the status of these debts.  They buy them and now own them.  They lie to you about what they pay for them and tell you that there has been interest on the debt.  They are trying to scare you into paying them.  They are MOST LIKELY buying these debts for 10% of what was owing - and gambling on the chance that you'll pay the full amount.  DON'T PAY IT!!!! TELL THEM TO TAKE YOU TO COURT AND COLLECT!!!! OR MAKE THEM PROVE WHAT THEY PURCHASED THE DEBT FOR AND WHEN THEY PURCHASED IT!  DO NOT - I REPEAT!!! DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT THEY ARE TELLING YOU - THEY ARE MISLEADING YOU AND PREYING ON YOUR YOUR IGNORANCE - YOUR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OR WHATEVER ELSE THEY CAN PREY ON TO GET YOU TO BONE UP MONEY TO THEM.  Again - they are taking full advantage of you and whatever they say you owe is NOT what you many OWE THEM!!!!! Please pass this message to others.  People like this should be stopped and if people don't pay them then they will have to close shop. And if your from Aktiv Kapital and reading this - KISS MY ASS!!!!!!

Not Fooled is right. I checked my credit bureau, and the debt they (Aktiv) are trying to collect, doesn't even show (and I just bought a house). Tell them to get bent!

they call....get my machine..."please hold" gets repeated a few times...then some guy comes on "hello....hello..." AS IF!!!! The [***] called ME!!! not very proffesional to answer with just hello...instead of hello I'm so and so from blah blah blah calling in regards to....
I do think it is AKTIV Kapital as they have called me many times before over a visa I suposedly had 13 years ago!!! I asked for proof of such a debt and was told that the information he was telling me was the proof...I asked for copies of what information he had, and was told it's on the computer...no papers could be sent...UMMMM...HELLO..IT'S CALLED A PRINT BUTTON!!! so I told them without proof I would not pay a dime on a debt I don't beleive I even had as the visa I had back then was paid in full. they tried to tell me that I still owed $1000.00 I said bull $*@#! so he proceeded to tell me that the origional debt was $300.00 but now there is 13 years interest. I told him where he could go needless to say...STATUDE OF LIMITATIONS IS 2 YEARS! soooooo...even if this debt really did exist I guess someone should have contacted me 13 years ago. They can kiss my @$$. If these people call you SERIOUSLY QUESTION EVERYTHING THEY SAY AND INSIST THEY SEND YOU PROOF WITH YOUR SIGNATURE ON IT!!!!!!!!!

Yes this number is Aktiv Capital, I just confirmed it by calling from another phone.  

This number is Aktiv Kapital trying to intimidate people into paying old debts. They buy old debt from companies, for pennies on the dollar, so to speak, who have for the most part, written them off, therefore making them noncollectable. Companies write off bad debt all the time. This is how they recover some of their losses on their income tax. There is a statute of limitations on this type of debt anyway which is like a form of bankruptcy. Don't feel guilty about owing old debts. The government has made it law to relieve you of the obligation of new and old debts through bankruptcy and the statute of limitations, to give you a fresh start. Their are thousands of companies that have taken advantage of the Bankruptcy Act to get out from under THEIR debt!  They are noncollectable so DO NOT, under any circumstances, talk to them, admit to the debt, make any payments towards it, or give them your address. Get "Call Blocker" or "Mr. Number" on your cell phone and they will be history. You will retain a history of their calls and when they make them. After hour calls! they could end up owing you money and they could potentially be sued, or worse if they are trying to collect on a debt that has already been written off, (double dipping). Revenue Canada and the I.R.S. might have something to say about that! If you have already gotten involved with them, DEMAND a copy of the original contract with the company you allegedly did business with and retract any statements or knowledge of the disputed debt. They cannot damage your credit record without putting themselves in jeopardy. They are parasites and deserve the same treatment they like to dish out to everyone else. Ignore them and don't worry they will eventually go away when THEY finally realize the debt really is a dead horse! Remember, the longer they call you, the more it is costing them in time and money which THEY will never recover! If you are getting mail from them, don't read it, shred it, along with their, not so cheap anymore, stamp. There is a positive side to all of this!
