the person who called me from this number was posting as the chase bank fraud prevention team. they had my name and were asking me to verify myself with automated questions two which all of the answers did not apply. After the computer determined my answers did not match their information I was connected to a person who then asked for my card number for verification.  As authentic as he sounded, I told him I'd call him back. The directed me to the 1-800 number on the back of my card.  The actual bank had no record of any fraud or making a call. So, beware.

It was legit for me. Verification of a check i had written and the recipient had just cashed. Check number and amount correctly matched.
