Just got one on my mobile phone.  Rung short and they hung up.  No idea who.  No message left.

just got a call from this # on my cell phone. -  before I could answer it they hung - up without leaving a message.

Just for giggles I called them back from another phone.  It was a record message.  They only identified themselves as ERC.  I didn't bother trying to get further into their menus.

same experience. I wonder if it's a random test of working numbers for future harrasment?!

Call them back and they give you the option to have your number removed from their list, all automated.

This is a collection agency. I asked them3 times to take my cell phone number off their list. I don't know the guy they are looking for in Woonsocket RI.

The CALL AND HANG up is a tatic to get you to call them back. That way - "WE DID NOT CALL YOU, YOU CALLED US. WE CALLED YOU BY MISTAKE BUT SINCE YOUR ONE THE PHONE..."

This is a tatic called Ghost Dialing. They do it to confirm phone numbers in their database. To check on numbers that hang up on you dial *67, Number...

That way they cannot get your Caller ID. Check in your phone, you can turn off Caller Id as well.

This is just a way to see if your phone is a working number.
