- Anonymous| 6 repliesThis number is PlayStation
- Caller: PlayStation
- tami| 6 repliesI got. A $99.99 charge to my bank account. and I don't even know. This company.
- BigA replies to tami| 5 repliesThen what you do is contact your bank, they have all the information. File a fraud dispute on the charge and let them investigate it for you. Since you didn't mention who the company is that is all I can tell you. Also, be sure you didn't purchase anything for that amount since some places use a credit card processor and the name of the processor comes up not the place of purchase.
- AlfalfaMy debit card was hit this morning with a fraudulent transaction charge of $19.99. I have cancelled it. And, of course---Playstation is closed until 11:00 AM local time.
- Caller: Playstation
- Alfalfa replies to BigA| 4 repliesOh, it is Sony Playstation. I called them as soon as their Pacific Coast offices opened, told them someone had committed financial transaction fraud using MY bank card---and was basically told it was not "their" problem....
Well, as I am aware that Sony Playstation has had a long-standing history with hackers and has shown zero interest in stopping them, I intend to make it their problem. - BigA replies to Alfalfa| 1 replyGuess you should have went with an XBox?
- Alfalfa replies to BigAI own neither---which did not matter to Sony Playstation. They made it abundantly clear to me they could care less whether or not criminals are using stolen bank information to purchase their goods---and I intend to make this fact known to every consumer reporting agency who will listen.

- AlfalfaPlayStation Network Users Report Hacked Accounts, Terrible Options From Sony
If you use PlayStation Network, Sony’s online platform for buying games and downloadable content for games, consider not keeping payment information on file and changing your password. It’s bad enough that stories of hacked accounts have surfaced in recent days, but these users report that Sony has given them no good options: they can eat hundreds of dollars’ worth of purchases, or lose access to their PSN accounts…forever.
If you’re wondering what kind of mischief can result when someone gets hold of your account, well, here’s the sad tale of a Reddit user who disputed $570 in fraudulent purchases made on their account. That’s what you’re supposed to do when fraudsters get hold of your account and make a bunch of unauthorized purchases, right? We thought so. Sony disagrees, though. They’re holding this gamer’s account hostage until they pay back the $570 in fraudulent charges. No, really.Quote:I explained that this was a fraudulent purchase made by someone who had hacked into my account. I had never given my username or password to anyone. They did not budge on their position, though. Sony is holding my account hostage until I pay their ransom.
This user isn’t alone. It happened to another person, who posted to Reddit before taking the step of disputing the charges. The situation is similar, with about $600 in fraudulent charges that Sony won’t admit are fraudulent. Here’s the dilemma that Sony has given this user: they can dispute the charges and have their account indefinitely banned from PSN, or they can pay the $450 and have their console banned for only six months.
This victim has turned down offers of gifted games, instead wanting to turn the world’s attention to Sony’s bad security practices. The company is displaying a particular gift for blaming users for their account breaches, which is rather ironic considering the terrible breach of employee data, films, and employee e-mails late last year in another branch of the company.
http://consumerist.com/2015/03/12/playstation ... ions-from-sony/ - ANONYMOUSI also received a $99.99 charge on my card from Sony Playstation. I don't even use a Sony Playstation and have never purchased anything from them. Don't have a clue how they got my info but I did dispute it with the bank.
- woodstock ga| 5 repliesI got the same thing this past weekend. Calls yesterday to Sony on Monday and Tuesday were unanswered.
- Caller: playstation sonyent
- Alfalfa replies to woodstock ga| 4 repliesDon't....waste your time with them. They have demonstrated little interest in helping anyone who has been directly (or indirectly) affected by the massive data breech which occurred several years ago. And, to make matters worse, the bank who handles my electronic Social Security deposits has determined that the unauthorized purchase made from Sony Playstation's website with funds stolen from my account was "not fraudulent".
Who are the real frauds, here? - Steve d replies to Alfalfa| 3 repliesFor anyone that has actually done business with playstation, what information do they require on their website for credit/debit purchases? Do they need the 3 digit code on the back of the card? We are trying to figure out how we got hacked and why we (and many others) are only getting fraudulent sony charges and no others. I am guessing that the hackers are selling sony gift certificates or something at below cost to convert their theft into cash. It is shameful that Sony has let this go on for years!
- Alfalfa replies to Steve dYou may never find out how your account was hacked, just like mine was almost two months ago. My son, who works in IT says that these criminals are crafty and are doing everything possible to ensure they will never be traced, caught or prosecuted. And---once they have your information, there are no guarantees that the issuance of a new account number and debit card with one of those new debit cards and security chip will stop them. I know, because my account was hit again by suspected Nigerian (756) criminals almost three weeks ago. Fortunately my bank froze my account, but the damage had already been done weeks ago when it was first compromised. Your best protection at this point is to place fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus and change banks to one with a good history of IT security like I have done. Good luck!
- Alfalfa replies to Steve d| 1 replyQuote:It is shameful that Sony has let this go on for years!
Yes it is---and they have repeatedly demonstrated they could care less about those who have been victimized. I have turned them over to attorneys who have expressed interest in starting a Class Action lawsuit. - Anonymous replies to AlfalfaDo you have the lawyers contact info for the class action?? My family member was just hacked the same!!
- William replies to Alfalfa| 1 replySame here. I went immediately to the bank where the charge was made (credit card). They credited the amount (79.97) back to my card pending their investigation. I was just rebilled for the amount. And yes, it is impossible to get Sony to do anything about it.
- Alfalfa replies to WilliamNo, they won't. I spoke to a group of attorneys months ago who expressed interest in starting a class action lawsuit against Sony, but have not (and probably won't) hear anything back from them. I have since changed banks and moved on. You may want to do the same. Once these cybercriminals have your ACH information, it will always be out there for them to attempt to steal from you again---as they did me.
- RadI don't have a Play Station or any gaming devices and I had 9 charges to my credit card. I have the phone number showing up on my caller ID and I don't answer it,. since I don't know who it is. I have reported this number several times to the Government Do Not Call List and to no avail has anything been done about it.
