The phone call is from Citigroup or Citibank in an attempt to collect a debt for poor Vicki. You have to call the number and tell them your not Vicki and for them to quit calling you. We've had the same problem and that's what we had to do.

    Not Donald
We, too, are getting calls for a Donald Williams, but when I try to call the number back to report that I am NOT Donald Williams, the call won't go through.  I don't get a busy signal or a ring...just nothing.

Yeah - same thing - a call every week that says if you are not "Joe Schmoe" then please hang up now.  So I hang up.  Then I get a call back saying the same thing a week later.

Finally, I just called the number back right away - I got a human and asked her to remove me from their list.  She did - we'll see what happens now...

Three calls within a half-hour this morning. I picked up at 8:03 a.m. and again at 8:28 a.m., but no one was there. I let the answering machine handle it at 8:31 a.m., but they left no message. They no doubt are calling for Bobby or Brian who have debt and had my phone number 2 years ago. This information is from their website:

Sometimes hackers use 800-debt collector numbers to send or download eavesdropping software to your cell phone or landline.

Some collection agency looking for Maria Robles. I got the auto message yesterday (after three times getting called and being hung up on) asking for her, I pressed 2 to say I was not Maria and still got a call back today, so it looks like that option will not stop the calls. It's ridiculous. If anyone knows a Maria Robles from Albany NY, PLEASE TELL HER TO GIVE PEOPLE HER NEW NUMBER! I've been getting calls for her on my cell for 8 months now!

New developments since the post of February 10.

After many other calls with no message left and no one there when I picked up, a robocall message began to play when I picked up on 2/14/12 at 4:33 p.m. The message said "Hello, this call is for _______." Then there was silence and the call ended a few seconds later.

After a few more calls with nothing in between I got the robocall for Bobby M--- who had my number 2 or more years ago. I followed the procedure Megan noted. That was at 1:23 p.m. on 2/16/12.

The next call from these people came exactly an hour later, this time asking for Brian R-- who never had my number as far as I can tell, but other debt collectors have called looking for him. So I followed the procedure again to tell them they had the wrong number.

Since then they have called, leaving no messages, at 8:03 a.m. on 2/17/12, 8:36 a.m. on 2/1712, 2:21 p.m. on 2/21/12, and 3:05 p.m. 2/22/12. After you press 9 to tell them they are calling the wrong number, their acknowledgement says they will remove your number from the calling list. (They don't say they are removing the person's name from the list, but that they will remove the number.) They obviously don't do this.

I got another one of those 800-350-9419 calls today. I've had my mobile phone hacked with eavesdropping and remote microphone activation software several times before by some loser-hacker who has stalked and harassed me for a long time using a 800-number to send some kind of malicious eavesdropping software. I know this because people at my school including my professors have repeated personal information they have heard through this hack. Although they deny it because they don't want to admit to doing something illegal. And, yes, it is illegal to record and eavesdrop on another person's phone conversations without their permission!

I have also had my laptop hacked with remote viewing software. I know this because of private data and email messages of mine that have been viewed and interfered with. ...Probably by the same hacker.

So beware, if you have a private line that you keep changing the number of but you keep getting these 800 calls it may be someone who is just using that anonymous 800-number to send something to your  cell phone.

My number is a land line. They have said at least 6 times that they will remove my number from their call list because they are calling the wrong number, but they keep calling. After getting another call today, I went to the Better Business Bureau website and filed a complaint to be handled by the BBB of Metro Atlanta, Athens, & NE Georgia. The company isn't a member of the BBB, and they have a poor letter grade because of missing information and a fair number of complaints.

They don't leave a message.  It's great having a black list.  I just place this number on it and my phone never rings for this again. Simple. Easy. Fast.

    Not Christi Dowes
I got my number in Dec. 2011, and have been receiving multiple calls for Christi Dowes weekly ever since.  I have called the # back and been told that My # was being removed.  No such luck, I have names of 5 people at that # that promised to remove me, the latest- Angela at 3:40 pm on 4/24/12.  Does anyone have a clue how to stop this harrassment.  I have notified local Law Enforcement and they are investigating.
