Yeah, there was no "AT&T Sparkletone" (a trademarked unique audio tone that is like an audio logo), the recording was not "the perky voice," and the whole premise of the call wasn't something the company would do anyway. The passcode can only be changed after some other form of authentication  has occurred, like logging into the myAT&T wireless app.

Anyone who has fallen for this trap: Contact AT&T IMMEDIATELY, to have your passcode changed . You can dial 611 from any AT&T cellphone, to reach Customer Service.

These people called me last night a 11:38 p.m.   At first I was a little shook thinking it was gonna be an emergency call or something from my family , and  then I saw the 800 #  and I'm like  WHATTTT   ???  I did not answer, and no message left.  Being on the local and national no-call list.... how does this keep happening ?

The Do Not Call List is a list of phone numbers where the owner does not want telemarketing calls and a law against calling those numbers.  For a scammer its one more law to break.
Most likely the caller is using a robo-dialer (also illegal) to call everyone in a specific area.  Your number happened to be next.

Many people say the midnight calls happen because the scammers are working from outside the US and don't understand time zones.  But I have a different idea.  I think some scammers call in the middle of the night hoping you'll think its a family emergency and answer the call.  The scammers hope the victim will fall for the scam because they are not fully awake and their judgement is impaired.

The only calls after 11 pm should be from family or an emergency.

They should, but keep in mind there's no time off for con artists. The post above has some information to take note of also. If you've got a call from India at 11PM your time, it's 11AM there and within business hours. That's also a good time for pests using computers to fish for working numbers, which keeps them going.~I Was Prepared~JustinCase
