This "company" keeps calling and leaves a message for someone who no longer lives at this address and has not for 10 years!  They only identify themselves by their first name and not the name of the business.  They leave a message for the individual they are looking for to return their call.  We are sick and tired of receiving their calls and have asked them to stop but to no avail.  IF they have business with someone who doesnt live here WHY are they calling here!

This company is a SCAM! A lady called me from this number, saying it is urgent I call. I called back and to my surprise was told I owe unpaid 407 paid hwy tolls from 7 years ago. I asked how this was possible as I never received any bills. Speaking more to the lady at Christenson Law Firm (as they call themselves) she said bills were sent to my old address, hence why I never received them. She informed me if I don't pay this amount by end of day tomorrow, it will be referred for legal action and It will ruin my credit. She further went on to tell me, that I really don't want this to ruin my credit which I have worked so hard for. I informed her I don't have the money to pay, whereby she told me I can see you have some money in your bank account and your credit card also has a large allowance to take cash advances to pay this off. She made it sound as if she had access to all my credit info and that I must pay this asap. I was skeptical on this, as how can they come after 7 years asking me to pay for paid hwy tolls which I don't remember ever having a bill for. She gave me another number to call regarding 407 Hwy tolls. I called, spoke to a rep who informed me I owe this amount and basically it's from taking the paid 407 hwy. She further explained a picture is taken of the plate and sent to the ministry to confirm it is registered to my name, etc. As it sounded legit and I was afraid to ruin my credit, I called back MIchelle from Christenson Law Firm (18003612980 Ext: 3364) where I obtained the info to go make the payment at the TD Bank because she said they only accept email money transfer or cash deposit in the TD Account. I went and paid the bill yet after I spoke with some friends they said it sounded like a scam. After some research online, I came to realize it is a fraud. Be aware of these people. It is so sad good people get taken advantage of by people like this.... Great lesson learned!

Web site is behind a private proxy. Odd thing for a law firm to do. So when did you get proof of debt in the mail? They were calling a long time, but they would of also mailed you something. That's what debt collectors do. They had your phone number, so they have your address. For this debt to be tied to your license renewal usually indicates speeding ticket, parking ticket, etc. Ordinary civil debt cannot be attached this way. Something in this story just isn't right.

    >> they kept telling me I was in plate denial  <<

Um ... what, exactly, is "plate denial"?

Are you familiar with the Canadian laws on debt?
(I mentioned "Canadian", because the company you mentioned is in Ontario ... and they have a different phone number than the one in this thread)

Do you think you can convince us that the Canadian Ministry of Transportation denied you license plates because you owe a debt?
Do you know that phone calls and emails are not legally sufficient "notification of debt"?
Do you think that the Canadian Ministry of Transportation collects interest for debts owed private companies?

Gee... give us some references, and maybe we might almost believe your shilling post!

Lady called Shannon and Sara calling my work place and leaving messages with regard to a legal matter.  Legally they are not supposed to call work place.  They also call from unknown number.

It does actually.  Unfortunately if you don't pay your toll fees on 407....then yes you will have to pay them!

Plate denial.....if you are using a toll highway and fail to pay your dues.... your plate will go into plate denial. Meaning you will one day go to service ontrio to renew your sticker and they will deny you your sticker until you pay the balance. Same with parking tickets. ... if you have accumulated parking tickets. ..you are forced to pay those fines before you can get your sticker!

It's definitely not fraud.  You can go to the office and see for yourself.

In the province of Ontario if you take the 407 Toll Route and do not pay your bill (which is stupidly expensive for a toll road) then you can have your "Ontario" plate sticker denied.  This was legislation that was put down when the Mike Harris government sold the highway as part of the deal.  I agree I think since it is a private own company they should have to go the normal route but hey I'm just a citizen.   Also Christensen Law Firm is just a BS name for a collection agency, in fact it borderline breaches the collection agency rules.  Just like claiming you are a credit bureau does when a collection agency is not a credit reporting agency/bureau at all.  If you get a call from these loosers find out who the actual person is you owe the money to.  You do NOT have to deal with the collection agency if they do not own the debt and in fact might be able to work something out with the originating owner of the debt up to including having the debt pulled from the agency.  Most companies hate using collection agencies because they all collection agencies are dirty low life companies who only care about commission and not about YOU.   If the agency doesn't get paid then they do not get the commission most times.  Also if the debt is over 4 yrs old then unless you are getting a mortgage or a car chances are the effect it has on your credit is minimal and paying it could actually effect your credit in the negative.   A debt in Ontario can not be court enforced after 2 years from the date of last activity and actually falls off your credit report 6 years after the date if last activity as long as you never ever claim you know about the debt or ever accept responsibility for it.  If a collection agency calls regarding a debt over a 2 years or you never have any intent on paying the debt then when a collection agency calls you and confirms who you are and then tells you what the debt is for then promptly say you have no idea what they are talking about and hang up.  NEVER pay a collection agency.  They are bottom feeders
