This company preys on seniors so much that they will give in to stop the calls
THIS IS A SCAM IN IT WORST FORM

This number is associated with 800-470-2193. It has been used for years to commit criminal acts against Canadians.

They SAY they are with the Canadian Police Assoc. But they also have claimed to be looking for donations to many legit organizations.

Problem is....they have no affiliation with any of these organizations. They use hard-sell techniques, especially against women and the elderly (who may be more vulnerable to an abusive male). The male who calls always sounds like a tough cop....but of course, he is just a thief and would never qualify to be recruited any police organization. But it's all part of the act to force you to give money.

The people behind this are called Xentel - based in the US.... this group of thieves have been charged in the US and have been the subject of an RCMP fraud warning.

So BEWARE... they are at it again in the summer of 2011.

To add to my message...

In December 2010, Xentel (which has offices in Calgary) was fined $500,000 by CRTC. They were calling people on the Do Not Call List and soliciting for money even though they did not have an exemption to do so.

If you fall for this scam, your money may be going to the CRTC (LOL).

they also use 519 488 0021  and call them selfs frontline support    just a bunch of idiots that cant find real work  so they have to prey on people that would like to make a true donation for REAL charity's  keep post the phone #'s on these sights to keep people informed.

Caller with kind of harsh voice and not too articulate phones using my name from phone book I presume and tells me he will be playing a recording and I could not distinguish that change in sound at all but he kept on talking about the Professional Police Association and how they would like to educate teachers and parents of children up to grade 3 level about being aware of abuse with children around them.  He wanted a donation of at least $20.00 and was very insistent.  I knew it was a scam because I was warned by a policeman that any call from anyone proposing to be a police officer looking for money is a scam.  Very sorry I said I cannot donate and the very insistent person kept on talking and trying to coerce me but I hung up on him.  Later I star 69 the call and got the number of 800-378-0929.  I wish now I had led this creep up the garden path and found out what address they wanted the money sent to so I could report that and if I get a call from them again that is exactly what I will do.

Calls almost everyday looking for a donation and saying that if I don't support the organization through donation I am putting the safety of my children at risk.  Complete [***]. Scam.

just a had a call fr this number looking for money but i told them i am a hobo and this is not my phone  he said ok sorry to bother you and hung up

They are scammers that use a bogus association to the Police to try to intimidate people into thinking that if they don't give money they will somehow be targeted for harassment or ignored if they need help. I would think the Police Services across the country would pay particular attention to these crooks as they are giving them a bad reputation.

Got a call from 1-800-378-0929. They claimed to be working with Cops for Kids. Same thing, due to "budget cuts" they are requesting donations. I said sure, and they quickly passed me on to a woman named Tracy. She said "Will that be mastercard or Visa?" I asked her if she would send me an invoice so I could mail the donation to. She replied that they would send me a "receipt" after I made the telephone donation.  LOL.  I then asked if she would give me a phone number I could call to make a donation, as I'm not in the habit of giving out my info to unknown sources. She gave me this number:

I thought that was odd, being that they are soliciting for Calgary, yet based out of Ontario. Scam!

They called me today.
After googling the number, and finding this page, I have now call blocked their number.

[***] scam ran by xentel call this #1-780-482-5801 ext 4 for manager and give him a hard time he finally hung up on me! so i kept calling him back untill he blocked my number imagine that!

I really hate these calls

they keep phjoning and hanging up on the answering machine  2 or 3 calls a day

received a call today from a woman asking for someone i don't know when i said you have the wrong number she proceded to say she's from the cops for kids in our area bla bla bla wanting money when i said no she tried to get aggressive with me so i told her very firmly that i do not give money over the phone nor do i give any info out period she hung up on me surprise surprise!!
