- Mad Again| 5 repliesReceived a real-looking fake check. Had to call 800-378-5175. Rep. claimed I could get a 500 card to use at any store. Asked me to verify my address. I refused to give any information. I asked who was giving the $500 card. She claimed it was a skin cream company. Scam, Scam. No company gives $ away. Address used was 56 West 45th Street, STE 1001, NY10036

- JoeyDee replies to paulaWhat kind of info did you give them? If they just verified your name and address (they already had your phone number, most likely) they didn't get much. In fact they probably already had your name and address.
STILL, given the way information can be stolen, you should contact your bank and all your credit card companies, loan company, etc., and put a block on all your accounts.
Also check your account balances regularly and report anything that is fraudulent. - AB replies to Pizza PayI will soon lol
- CWG40Any communication recieved by way of US mail which appears fraudulent should be taken to the nearest post office so that the postal inspectors can take a look at it.

- Terri replies to paula| 1 replyRule of Thumb - if it's too good to be true...it's a scam. These people are like fishermen..If you bite, they will reel you in. Did you notice there is no company name on the check or if you call? My dad was caught up in a scam. They had him believing his family was going to try get his winnings!! So he kept sending the money & kept the issue from us! Well...he wiped his retirement savings to ZERO fefore we found out and took action. Check your credit report, block solicitors. The more you say, the more power you give them to return to you.
- olderandwiserCalled to let them know I reported them and the lady almost choked. Gotcha!

- elcidreceived fake check... reminds me of the offers online that catch you up in clicking on page after page after page of questions/choices, and offering you $500 once you get to the end of the questionnaire... eventually I ALWAYS give up, before I can ever get to my reward... the app will go on for as long as you are willing to keep clicking, I guess.
Could this be a mail/phone type effort at getting us to DO something, or are we just being pumped for personal info, I wonder?- Caller: 800.378.5175
- Donna replies to TerriMy mom just got this same fake check. She was already scammed out of $2500 from the grandson scam. She's 87 years old and she still thinks she is going to win the "big one" so she gets this letter check and still wants to know if she won. She just doesnt get it they are scams, but you are 100% right, they are like fisherman and some day she will get reel in.
- Debbie replies to Mad AgainThank you for the information.
