unfortunately, charitable donations are exempt from do not call restrictions. i hate to say it, but many of them are worse then telemarketers ever were!! guess they get to hide behind the fascade of being a "charity".  I have a suggestion:
when they call, say "please hold on a second" and then leave the phone off the hook for at least 5 mins. If they are still on the line say (very pleasantly "that was very annoying wasen't it? - now you know how annoying your frequent calls are - i will be doing this each time you call") that cuts into their calling rate/people contacts per minute and may get them to stop calling. I also use caller ID, but they are getting very clever with that as well with "unknown caller" frequently showing now. Good luck!
