I received a call at 3:00 PM, Jul 6, 2010. They first asked for my brother-in-law. When I Said that hE wasn't herE , they asked for my Sister-in-law, but I thought they were asking for my wife, who took the phone. They asked her for our daughter, but mispronounced her name. They gave an 8 digit number as a reference and asked that she call today, but wouldn't give any info except that it was a Miss Rogers at U C Bureau.

I had a call from (800) 394-7560 today.  The man claimed he was calling about an auto loan and that he was a process server.

Um, we paid cash for our cars.

I guess since virtually no-one every pays cash for their car, that's an easy ploy.  Why would a process server even be involved in an auto loan?  But still...

UCB is a legitimate collection company.

Yes they can and do.  UCB is a legitimate collection company.

But if you owe money why not work with them?

Received a call from UCB needing to talk to me .. very important. I know what they're up to. They are trying to track down my son .. who is married and has gone into bankruptcy .. for information on him. I've gotten similar calls in the past and just blew them off. My son has been harassed for years and now they are back to me. I have no outstanding debts. They may also be trying to track down a friend of mine to get past medical debt collected. All in the lawyer's hands right now on both accounts. If they persist they will be reported to the BBB.

I am receiving calls as early as 8am to help locate someone who has an outstanding debt who happens to have the SAME LAST name as mine.

I'm pissed that the calls are coming into MY home so early on a phone for which I PAY for.

This is wasting me personal time and is also tying up my phone line for my personal use.

Called me at work and I don't know who this is.

They may be able to in Florida, but the laws vary state to state.

I received a call from a lady identifying herself as Crystal from the office of the UCB.  She was asking me about the location of a possible neighbor _my neighbors name_.  She left this number 1-800-394-7560 ext. 8537 and asked me to return the call if I had any information on this person. I do not appreciate collection bureaus calling me to find a person who owes them money.  And how do they know that she's my neighbor?  If they know that much shouldn't they be able to find out where she is and call her directly?

legitimate debt collectors can still be scumbags.  my bet is you are one of those scumbags david

scummy collectors use robocall to cell phones- ILLEGAL!

I work for a local hospice agency and received a msg to call this number, claiming to be from UCB and to speak to a Donna Wickham at ext 63610.  Not knowing who that was, I Googled it and found this thread.  I informed administration about these complaints and was advised NOT to return this call

They appear to be a medical bill collector.  Other sites show them to be really aggressive with a lot of extremely rude employees.
