Left message on my home phone and when i called back would NOT tell me the name of the company I was calling.  Some bogus law firm or something.  It's probably a SCAM!

I got a letter from this company and when i called them they would not tell me what company they were trying to collect a debt from. I finally found out they were trying to collect on a debt from 2000 when i have not gotten any statements in 10 years or more. They told me i could go to jail and they could garnish my funds to pay this debt. i dont know what all they can do but i think it might be a scam. If you find out information on them please let me know

Welcome to the world of "Zombie debt". Debt that is so old it cannot be collected by law. That doesn't mean they can't phone you & bug you. There is a very good chance it's a scam, but if you feel like it (after doing research on the internet on this company) send them a  (registerd mail w/proof of delivery) asking for proof of debt. Remember to NEVER say you owe money, or admit the debt is yours (assuming it is real & not a scam). I don't know what State you're in, but 12 years is a pretty long time. Check your State laws on debt.

Thank you I will call today and check about the laws on old debt and see about sending them a letter asking for proof of debt.
They said they have a voice recording of me applying for the credit and asked if I remember that. I told them no because I do not remember.

I doubt this is real because they called my cell phone with a caller ID of 119497432688 which is an international number. Saying that a complaint was filed against me.  They left a call back number of 800 395 7779.  I am pretty sure it isn't legit, else why wouldn't they call my home number (my home number is listed under my name, but my cell phone is actually listed under my mom's name). They used my first name, which I haven't used for over 20 years.

I recieved a call today from this number and the message said it was Kevin Daniels from I think Chelsea Finance. It also said that he was calling about the property and gave the city.
This call was to my husbands cell. His cell number has nothing in common with were we live, since I bought this land and house long before I met him. So I don't know how they could have made a connection.

Got a harassing call from this group about a bogus debt.  They are a scam.  Called my attorney and he us following up.  Ignore them.

Ii received a call with person stating "I am calling from Chelsea law firm about a property (in the town I live ) " they never mentioned an exact address . The call was hharrassing in that they threatened legal action. I didn't know what this was about ,so I called the number they left and the person that answered room the call (clue) that it isn't a legal firm. Usually a receptionist takes law firm calls and directs them. Then the person starting yelling at me about my attitude when I asked questions as to who they were and for what reason they needed the info he was trying to illicit from me. I tried answering back after he threatened to prosecute me but he hung up on me. He never did get the answers to Hus questions, so how and why am I going to be prosecuted? This is most likely a collection agency that works on commissionthank you all for responding and calming my fears , I am going to talk to  lawyer about this "company" and hopefully file a civil suit in regard to harassment and threats! I know harrassmrent in my state illegal so maybe the we can get this stopped!

I received a call from the 1 949 743 2688 on 4-17-13 and a letter from this Chelsea and associates on 4-16-13 the phone call I received on the 17 some lady left me a message stating I was being sued for some propertie in the town I live in and that I needed to call back well stupid me called back cause I don't own any property! Well when I called back some guy answered not even giving the name Chelsea and Associates and asked what prompt me to call and I had told him he says oh you need to speak to the legal department! So then some guy by the name of Mr.James gets on the phone and asks me is this (my name) and so on he knew a lot of info on me! He proceeds to tell me first bank has given him my account stating I owe 3, 700 and this so called letter said 2,700 well anyways after we talked he said I can lower it due to finanical hardship it from 3,700 down to 1, 000 in like 10 mins! But was demanding I pay it that day saying he can't help me once we hang up and he would proceed to the next step and serve me and garnish my wages! He left me so sick to my stomach I told him I needed to figure away to get money! He then decided to give me an hour to figure something out! So we hung up! I never called him back .
I did some reaserch and can't find this company any where! So he calls my work the next day asking me if I'm gonna pay my debt I told him I researched his company and can't find it anywhere and he tells me he is not required by law to report the name of his business we exchanged a few more words and then he hung up! He calls back to my work talks with my manager and asks for our address cause he has someone in route to serve me! No one ever showed up!!! He has made me so sick for days now! I printed my credit report and there is no first bank on there and such big dollar amount! *so sick I want it to stop* I filed a harrasment report with the police department! !!

I recieved this call aswell, my sister and law just called and let me know that they are contacting her about me too. Have you found a way to make it stop? Im currently on the phone with the police, but im not sure they will be able to help me. You said that there was a charge on your credit report or not? and did you give him anything like the last four of your social? Have you gotten any more calls?

Yes I verified my birthday date and last four of SS#. I got a call on the 23rd a woman left her name who she was with and said she needed to talk to ne (my name) or spouse or lawyer saying she had to talk to me about some propertie in the town I live In that I was being sued for and left another phone number and that I had 24 hours to call back or hear from my attorney!  Let me know what happens on your end! I have chosen not to answer my phone not sure if they will ever go away.  I filed a report with the federal trade commission to.

these people keep calling my house several times a day. when I tell them the person they are looking for does not live her they call me a liar. Then today i called them back after they left a mean message about the person they are looking for and something about them owning land in Maryland that they would take if  they didnt get a call back. When i called back to tell them yet again to stop calling my house at first they wouldn't tell me who they were, then when i told them that the person they are looking for does not live her again they called me a lier. then the man said that it was probable one of my children he was looking for and that If i had been a better mother and raised my children better I couldn't be getting calls from a collection agency in the first place. I told him if he called back again I was going to sue them and hung up.

I have gotten calls from this number and they claim I owe money and something about property. I can't understand much of what is being said by the recording or whatever it is. It can NOT pronounce the name of the town I live in or even the State I live in. (Doesn't even come close to sounding like the name of the state - saying the name of the town wrong is 1 thing but not knowing how to pronounce the name f the state?!?!?!?!

I also received a call on my cell phone from Chelsea and associates from a Cecilia Johnson. She left a phone number which was a 1-800 number and also a case number as well. They were trying to reach my fiance which they called my cell phone for and it was about a property and they said it was in the town that we live in. I just called back in a panic but it said that their voicemail was full (hmm) and I could not leave a message. Can anyone tell me what this is about?!?! My fiance is away right now and there is nothing that he can do and I am a little confused because we do not own any property in the town that we live in!! What is this all about??? Should I contact my lawyer or leave it be?? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

I've done a lot of research on this company! I can't find anything I called the irvine business license department and they have business license for this company to operate there!  I believe this company is some how connected to a business that use to be called BAM they are using the same address! The address this company hss on there letter head is a po box in Irvine.  I believe this company did a hard inquiry on my credit report but the name that's is on there is Blackrock assicoates out of Tustin Ca. I haven't heard anything from these guys since May but I have gotten some strange calls from a process server out of Boston! I think its a scam or trying to collect on old debts cause what the company says I owe isn't on my credit report!

This Firm/Individual Could be in deep trouble, Check with the Federal trade commission
FTC, Fair Debt Collection Act. and/ Or Intentional Infliction of mental duress.....

I am thinking Class action Suit?

This company are a collection agency that used to operate as BAM. They are very rude and make threats to take you to court, garnish your wages and put a lien on your house for old debts. They used to call me 2 years ago stating I owed a debt from over 10 years ago. It was all bogus, but they kept harrassing me. I was in tears one day until I researched the company and the laws for california. Never admit to a debt and never pay them if you dont owe it. There are laws in california  one is they cant collect on Time barred account. This is what it states: In California, the Statute of limitations for verbal contracts is two years and for written contracts it is four years. What this means is if your patient or customer has signed a financial agreement to pay you for services rendered, you will have four years to collect this debt through legal measures. Basically, this means you could sue your customer. After this time period has lapsed, the debt becomes what is referred to as a time-barred debt.
This company when it was BAM use to operate out of their home. Now they have name changed and are likley still in the same place. They use to have an F on the better business bureau due to many complaints. They most likely opened a business under a new name Chelsea and associates. If you have a chance file a complaint against them at the better business bureau and dont pay this fraudulent company nor take there calls, they will only upset you will lies!

If and when you decide to do a Class Action suit, please let me know. I paid money to this lyining piece of $#*+.  I'm so angry. I was harassed, threatened, screamed at, hung up on.... you name it. I am so ready to do something about this. So please, let me know.  Thank you.
