Answered the phone and no one said anything.  Did not hear it hang up as some of these calls will do, said hello twice before hanging up myself.  Curious to know who the heck this is.  I am on the do not call list, but I have found that is only helping somewhat.

Almost exactly the same as RMs experience. My caller ID said "Unknown Name". Later in the day I received a call with no number and "Unknown Caller" on the caller ID. It hung up when my machine answered the phone.

What is going on with all of the unwanted Telemarketer calls that we are getting, when we are supposed to be protected by the "Do Not Call" Registry, that I am on also.  All of a sudden the week of: 10/03/07, I have been annoyed with constant Telemarketer calls daily.  I recieve 3 to 4 calls a day.  I do not answer the calls anymore, but that has not stopped the calls.

With unwanted phone numbers that show up on caller i.d. without their name, such as "800" or "866," I pick up the phone along with my high-pitched, ear-deafening whistle and blow as hard as I can into the receiver when the other end clicks in. (When the other end "clicks in" one always knows it's a telemarketer of some sort.) Needless to say, for months I do not receive any more calls from that number. OR, I just unplug the phone from the wall to disconnect the call as soon as I see it's an unwanted caller.

- 800-867-7183 - Called on 3rd February 2007 at 12:48 PM. Female voice: "This is a courtesy call from Trackphone (Tracfone) Wireless (trackphone.com or tracfone.com) at 1 800 867 7183. Your cellphone service is about to expire in a few days.... etc." Indeed I never have or had any service or business with them (TracFone)! Called on 3rd February 2007 at 12:48 PM. Reported them to the Do Not Call List.

- 800-419-7370 - Female voice: "This is a courtesy call from Trackphone (Tracfone) Wireless (trackphone.com or tracfone.com)... Your tracfone
cellphone service is about to expire in a few days.... etc." Called on 24th February 2007 at 10:02 AM. Reported them AGAIN to the Do Not Call List.

- 800-419-7370 - TRACFONE www.tracfone.com = (800) 419 7370. Called on November 20, 2007 at 7:08 PM (and see also above complaint on 3rd February 2007 as well!). Female voice: "This is a courtesy call from Tracfone Wireless, thanks for being a good customer.... etc." Indeed I never have or had any service or business with them (TracFone)! They have the nerve to call again and to "keep" me as their "customer". Reported them to the Do Not Call List.

What you want to do is call 1-800-867-7183. Go through the automated system as if you needed technical customer service. Ask whoever picks up for a manager or someone who has the ability to make decisions. I spoke to someone who said their name was Juan and asked them to remove my name from the list. This is a company where they're all about the money any no one wants to take responsibility for anything. Unfortunately what you have to do in these situations is to make their life as much of an inconvenience as they make yours.

FCC complaint going in shortly for DNC list violation. TracFone marketing in defiance of DNC rules. Message specifically formatted with a long preceding pause to bypass outgoing answering machine message and leave prerecorded advertisement on machine.

This call did not leave a message.  If it is, in fact, tracfone, it is odd that they would be leaving a courtesy call to warn of service about to expire, as my son's phone was just registered with them TWO DAYS AGO!

12/28/07 - today i had one call from this number and 2 from 1-866-716-5569, between 11:20 and 5:30pm.  We are on a national do not call list.  None of the calls had anyone leave a message of any form on our answering machine.

I have downloaded, telephone company recordings. When I screen calls, my machine answers with the 3 tone out of order signal, then says: "You are not authorized to dial this number", then there is 20 seconds of the old 1960's type rise & fall zzzz zzzz zzzz zzzz sound, then the leave a message beep. Unless it's automated, the caller always hangs up. If I'm away, my machine gives the 3 tone out of order signal, then uses a recorded synthetic voice (in a British accent), found at this link: http://www.oddcast.com/home/demos/tts/tts_example.html?oddcast
to say: "We're sorry, the number you have reached, is currently unattended.................please leave a message..............after the tone".  I VERY rarely get any telemarketers or non-automated messages. My now ex, had ran up 2 HUGE cell phone bills, before she left and I cannot pay them. They keep calling me, instead of her .

These guys are shady dealers and scammers and if you get a call from them file a 1088 Complaint with the FCC at https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/consumer.do and if you are on the National Do Not Call List, file a Complaint at https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx.

If the government gets enough complaints from you, we can put these guys out of business.

Received call on my home number on 4/24/08 at 447 p.m. They did not leave a voice message.

Tracfone alls, leaves a recording with a promotion code, code is good for extra free minutes next time you buy minutes. I have no problem with this.
