Two calls from this number in less than an hour today, 02/04/17. No one responded to my hello during the first call, but a foreign speaking female responded to second call and said something about my computer. I didn't respond to her question but asked for the name of her company, and at which time she hung up.

    No scammers, thanks
A young Indian man who said that he worked for HP tech support called from this number. He said that they received notifications that my computer had downloaded a file and it was going to be corrupted. I asked him to please verify who he was-- he said he could not. He  was very pushy and insisted that I follow his instructions for my computer; he also said that they had MY personal information such as my name, date of purchase, model number, etc. I asked him to call back later( so I could research the number...).
He called back and I told him their number was in a registry for scammers. He raised his voice and said "I will scam you AND your computer, for $1000!". I asked him to remove my name and number from the list and he said he could not, mumbled something else about $1000, then hung up.

    HP scammer
An indian accent man claimed to be from HP telling me that my pc had recently sent a signal to them, a malware issue and that my pc was at risk. He stated that my computer's memory had to be erased inorder to get rid of the malware. The dude is clearly a scammer, he called me 6 times during the day leaving no voicemail, during the call he was insistent and asked questions out of place, luckily I hanged up and researched this phone number. Beware to all do not give out your info.

I'm getting multiple calls from #1-800-425-4999. This time it was a lady I could not understand. She wanted me to go straight to my computer and minimize everything. I told her (practically screamed into the phone) to stop list calling and to put me on a no call  list. She hung up on me. OK!!!!!

Multiple calls from 800-425-4999 today.  After finding this site, I answered.   Foreign sounding lady  (maybe India?)  said she was HP tech specialist....same pitch as others.   "Go to my PC so she could help me get rid of malware, ransomware and many viruses,"  very urgent etc, etc,...otherwise she would be forced to disable my computer "to protect HP and the internet", remove all my files, etc.    Started to ask her questions, she hung up.   Boiler room scammers.  Suggestion:   Below "Call type"  box should offer more options.... such as SCAM.    Otherwise, this is a very useful and appreciated site.

These people call from a legit HP number. I've called HP n they confirmed this 800# are scammers. HP does not call u unless u initiate a conversation n they have to call back. Don't fall for it it's all a scam! You'd think the scammers know that prople are already hip to their BS but they keep calling, Asking to be placed on Do Not Call list is a waste of time because only legit companies have to do that upon ur request. Scammers don't and won't!

Well my HP "notebook" laptop did crash roughly February 25-30th (would not re-boot), and this number called me several times at roughly March 5 and onward. One February 27th, got a call asking for my excavator ??? (what excavator), and there were many people to be heard in the background. I was calling HP Support after the crash, and for the three times that I called (two different days), they were Indian too (from India, yes), as would be my guess. The HP people wanted to charge me to get the NEW computer fixed again, but as I've been using it only a couple of months, I complained loud enough to get the fellow to help me re-boot it for free, which is as easy as starting the laptop, and clicking Escape repeatedly as it starts, then hit F11 and follow directions. If you recover the system as the directions tell you without saving your personal files, they will be gone, but if you get a flash drive and put it into NTFS format, you can save your files first, by following the steps.

Amazingly, these called me on the evening of March 16, just days after the post above, and the guy not only said my HP computer has a virus, but he called me by my first name. The only way he could know my first name is by working for HP.

SCAM: I love how HP is so sophisticated that they know when my computer is infected and have the courtesy to call and fix the problem. LOLOLOL. Anyway, the obvious scammer will ask you to hit the "Windows +R" . Then they will ask you to delete everything in the window that pops up, and then type in "evemtvwr" in its place. Even though I know this is a scam, I humored them for the sake of gaining information. But them simply hung up because I didn't have time to finish. Also, they called back and wanted to know why I had rudely hung up on them. They are such poor victims. Anyway, I told him that I don't like being hung up on, even though I hung up on him. He was confused and said "you hung up on me!" I said, "because you hung up on me, I will not talk to you anymore." The next time they call, I will blast their ears with an air-horn, then insult their mothers...or maybe something more fun. Be creative, they are a captive audience and dumb as a box of rocks.
