Stop and Shop robo-called to issue a recall for organic peaches and nectarines. That's surprising, because there aren't very many S & S's left anywhere!

When I received my call it talked so fast you couldn't understand what company, store, etc. they said, but it was a recall for macadamia nuts. I've never purchased them in my life because I hate them. That's when I knew it was a bogus call. More importantly, "Where are they getting my cell phone number?" Every time I get a call like this I know not to answer it and then they'll always leave a message and it takes minutes off my phone when I have to listen to my voice mail. But I know to never answer these calls. That's what they want and then they'll never stop calling you. What I do is save the number as a DO NOT ANSWER. This seems to help. After awhile they'll stop calling.

This is a call from Stop and Shop advising customers on food recalls of items they sell. It isn't a spam call, it's legitimate and quite helpful.

Interesting.  People look things up because they want to know more or because they simply don't know.  Yet you knew everything there is to know about this phone number but looked it up anyway.  Now why would you do that?

800-443-2693 left a voicemail for me : Sara with Stop and Shop calling with important product recall information.  Select Dole packaged salad items that were processed at the Dole facility in Springfield, Ohio have been recalled due to the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.  Only items with the product code beginning with the letter code "A" in the upper corner of the package just below the best buy date are impacted.  For more information including specific impacted items and UPC codes, please call 800-443-2693.

This call was legitimate.  It was from Stop & Shop regarding a product recall.  The voice mail message was informational only and did not ask for a return call.

This is not a spam #, it is Stop & Shop.  They call you from this # if you have purchased an item that was recalled.  They inform you of the recall, and how to get your $ back for the purchase.
